The Sublime
I stay awake in empty darkness
Thinking thoughts that shape me so
A recompense of all the harshness
That my life has come to know
The sanctity of dreams and worry
Weigh me down and cloud my soul
The thoughts across my mind they scurry
Looking for their lifelong goal
Seldom as I lie there thinking
Could such actions ever find
Doomed as sure the ship thats sinking
Playing stories in my mind.
I have no answer to this haunting
Safe but sure I can survive
Though life itself alone is daunting
Thoughts may keep my dreams alive.
Let the darkness sooth your senses
Take its presence by the hand
While building bridges not just fences
Drifting to your promised land...
