The Garden
Wading past the threshold...
I step outside
to rejoin the earth...
make up for lost time....
...Knolls and Hillocks rolling out...
royal carriages of robust... opulent green...
...Carpet of lush verdant velvet sprawling
...far as the eye can see!
Phantom tundra thundering silently overhead...
great grey ivory glaciers floating through the arctic azure sky!
Frothy cascade of cumulo-cotton blanketing halcyon-blue horizon!
Engulfed by the floral bounty,
I feel a shift at the core of my being!
Aplomb! ... Agog! ...gadding about,
I traipse along the cobble stone.
O the informal pathway!
In its jagged unvarnished Perfection -
I see for the first, all likenesses:
Personalities Stories Characteristics of woman, of man
etched on the face of the hardened surface.
Unwonted! Unworldly! Vernal Fertility!
Springs solar solace!
Alacrity in the air!
Au naturale perfumes!
Effulgent sun-struck foliage!
In our garden...
...Enraptured...Carefree...
the garden
we sowed mended groomed
our hands our trowel our sweat
our toil our care
This garden
once flourished under
the tender bloom of our affection;
brought up, raised in perfect affinity...
Every petal Every sapling Every node
Every mottled panicle...
still possessing a fragmented
piece of your jeweled essence...
Poppies shine like day-glow rubies!
Violet irises possessing ingenious depth!
Morning glories Blue as Neptune's aura!
O! the unadulterated Gardenias & Calla Lilies -
- as soft and heavenly as the dove's wings!
...Spiraling tendrils of wisteria, wild clusters of pretty purple,
expanding skyward...opening into an unbound state of pure gentle awareness!
Pure polychromatic panacea!
Alleviation for the spirit!
Dots of pure color coalesce
in the pallid indigo of dawn.
- The surrounding landscape - an impressionist painting
reminding me of you... ... But alas...
I turn to my side and
you are absent,
yet still,
my senses are enthralled by your essence,
which lingers on
and
will always linger on...
I smell your perfumed fragrance wafting
in every direction.
Every Leaf
Branch Vine Root Pistil
stills carries with it
the remnants of our nourishment.
the Nourishment We gained from,
and spread over,
and shared with
the tender maternal terrain of the earth.
O! the innocent tempting of the Apple Blossoms,
couplings of Pink and White
gaily singing the carols of
Fertility & Romance...
O! the colonnade of Birch Trees,
their stable growth,
which allowed us to ignite our hearts as
we initiated ourselves into
the ever burning hearth.
From the distance,
the Deer approach me
offering sorrowful alms,
Daisies shield their longing eyes,
with a coaxing breeze they invite me to join them
on their noble indefatigable trek
across the tranquil, lush meadows of
Eternal Green...Swardy Redolent
waves of wild ginger seas
...in search of an ancient
submerged firmament, hidden
beneath the channeling waters
of some buoyantly dispositioned brook, or
gently whispering stream,
wise but with very little to say, only
a timeless melody to sing on …
and to
carry on...
for some immeasurable amount of time.
I stride, Barefooted, whither-soever,
releasing myself to the whims of the zephyr...
Gaia caressing the bottoms of my feet,
with her dew drops and tickling blades of grass.
My spirit guiding my mind through
the labyrinth of scorned love
bitterness longing passion and tears
the labyrinth we constructed in our own backyard
the Sun … spreads..... her warming tendrils …. …. out.... across.... the....: : : : : : : : : : : horizon: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
the bestowal of her beauty
feels but a mere consolation
as I turn and
still you are absent.
Yet I can't help but
sense your presence in every direction.
At this very moment
I look up
and see the Peregrine Falcon
over head
in pursuit
of some greatly desired
indistinct object,
fetal, and far, far, below it.
As it swoops down in shameless display of
superiority victory and success
I am reminded of you and why you are absent...
I continue on in stride.
undisturbed by our follies
nature proceeds its
coarse.
