A Wife's Revenge
I gained thy smile but not thy heart;
thy stares but not thy thoughts.
I share thy pillow but not my dreams;
thy touch but not thy soul.
If but my eyes could satisfy
my heart's sheer desire;
if but thy presence would be enough
I have thee but I don't.
Her shadow mocks my misery,
I love thee but I won't
let go of thee... let go of me,
I love thee but you don't.
Still I have thy name, thy ring, thy blood
her shadow as my curse
could not again be redefined
as my misery be thine...
and thine agony be hers.
