A German Soldier's Lament

I moved around, below, above,
And up and down, and back and through,
And all the while I thought of you
And the tender swastikas of love.

Gestapo kisses everywhere
Had filled my heart with such despair
I did not know just what to do,
Was I a Nazi or a Jew?

They tortured me for all my sin
And sealed me in a silent room,
Was it an oven or a tomb?
They made a lampshade from my skin.

They nailed me to an Iron Cross
And told me I must face the loss
Of everything I thought was true
And so I sold my soul to you.

Gradually your words made sense,
Baptising me with violence,
Seducing me with pride and hate
And sealing my Eternal fate,
.
Nothing now will ever seem
As grand as that Teutonic dream,
The candid eyes, the shining face,
The courage of the master race,

And yet the dream did not come true
And now there's nothing I can do,
Emancipated from your spell,
So lost and lonely in my Hell.
