Forgive Me for Being So Good
Lord, forgive me for my pity
For the vagrant and the homeless.
I should have given them a home
Instead of indulging in my finer feelings.
Lord, forgive me for compassion.
What good are lotus flowers to the suffering?
If I deny myself, do I not deny others?
Their cravings will cease when I give them bread and potatoes!
But I was seduced by the purity of my thoughts!
Lord, forgive me for my guilt.
I felt guilty about my lust and anger
When I should have felt guilty about my insincerity and laziness.
Lord, forgive me for shrugging my shoulders.
