In the event
In the event
that you hear a knock
at your door
you don't answer
with out peaking
through the curtains
It could be anyone,
The landlord
an annoying friend,
a Jehovah's witness,
or perhaps
some crazy asshole
who wants to weasel into
your life
and burn it down
In the event
that a sound
simple
and exciting
conjures a moment
which leads anywhere,
hopefully everywhere
From frosted mountain tops
with elevated
fresh air
to a dirty bedroom
with a misguided soul
waiting for shame
on the stained cotton
wasteland
In these events
never get your hopes up
they might not
lead you
anywhere
