The dreaded chair

He knew his time had arrived
his heart was beating fast
sweat trickled down his back
he felt faint and nauseous.
The night before he couldn't sleep
he lay there staring at the ceiling
the clock ticked noisily by his bed
he hoped tomorrow wouldn't come.
He wished he could find a way out
but he knew it had to be done
there was no turning back now
he just had to stay strong.
Then his name was called out
he was ushered to the large chair
his legs wobbled like jelly
strong hands stopped him from falling.
A light was shining into his face
a pair of eyes stared down at him
his throat was so dry he couldn't talk
fear gripped him like an evil vice.
He hoped this would be over quickly
get it over with he tried to say
but he was so scared it hardly came out
his heart wanted to explode out of his chest.
Then a calm voice spoke gently to him
'Don't be nervous, your in safe hands
your only going to have a tooth out.'
How he hated going to the Dentists!
