Love Rekindled
I fondly remember when I first saw you-
It was at that Restaurant called West View.
Our parents had chosen the venue.
And as I looked over the menu,
You sauntered in much in style
Wearing a disarming smile.
In your clear gaze I saw an honest man,
And knew in a blink it was a divine plan.
In no time we were man and woman.
every moment felt like heaven.
Oh yes, we had our tiffs and fights,
But we made up by the night
In time children came,
Life after was not the same.
Tired when I slipped into the sheets,
You would tenderly message my cold feet.
Soon work took over our lives.
I was busy being a working mom and wife.
Before we knew children flew the nest,
And I was filled with unrest.
I wanted to reconnect,
But you were too busy on the internet.
Now there was no romance,
Had it slipped by chance?
Seeing the young celebrate Valentine,
I too coaxed you to take me out to dine.
We went to the same place,
Where we had met by God’s grace.
We laughed and talked,
And later hand in hand walked.
Night was chilly,
we felt young and silly.
I think that night,
Everything again felt right.
After long I felt light
And my heart soared like a kite.
Next day though you came home late,
You shyly asked will you come on a date.
