The Girl With The Gun
With this piece in hand, she's heard, they should
Even men obey when she barks around
Their respects she got, and it all so showed
For oft she goes her way though cops abound
She's careful though, to warn before she fires
Reminds people, better not to cross the line
But one thing she is, that many admires
She's strict but fair, among her traits combine
Men and guns, history have so detailed
Conspired to sow terror on heart and mind
Power, then arrogance that they entailed
Are all it takes, for prudence to unwind
A gun kills, though at times it also saves
In farms, it wards off bandits and fierce game
Borne by soldiers, to triumph or to graves
A witless aide for glory or for shame
Some carry the gun for the added clout
But now, before this speech strays off some place
It's wise to state that this poem is about
The girl who fires the gun to start the race.
