Grief Creeps
The grief beast
creeps in
like a shadowy claw upon the wall
Worming its way into every
crevice
Snaking, under the minds
stable foundation
to shift the sand and put it off balance
Imperceptibly finding,
then pulling,
that one loose thread of sanity's tapestry
Unraveling joy
Brain screams, grand mal seizes thinking
to become disorganized
as mumbling mouths move to psychotic
violin screeches
Ghosts haunt
stealing serene slumber with
ticks
and tocs that walk
thickening the space between
two worlds
Uncomfortable,
stunned in dumb complacency
there is nothing left to do
but beg for mercy
