Are you well, Maa?

'Ammaa..! '
I am fully aware
at your ripe nineties
how much would you
yearn for your dear ones-
especially riding your bed
to meet your death-
yet I have not visited you
for months at stretch
for reasons very privy to me-
unforgivable is my act;
but how can I tell you
I love you so much ' Maa'?
I have so much in heart
to share with you-
all through my journey
I seem to sit beside your feet
and in continuous chat
with my head on your thighs!
I seem to empty all my heart
and wash your feet with my tears!
I seem to pray for your pardon
and die for your godly touch!
I have done you many wrongs, 'Maa'
and I feel my touch may pollute you!
so when I near your bedside, 'Maa'
my conscience curses me
to a speechless stone!
I simply stare at your holy soul
beaten white by tottering age
and wrung by miseries to scribbles all over-
I try my all to enquire your health
'how are you Ammaa? ' but miserably fail-
and my lips lock my tongue;
your soft beams melt me to bones
and I stand like a skeleton, lo!
minutes grow as if to aeons-
your lips feebly part;
your eyes touch me fondly
with its withering arms
' Appaa, are you well?
are all in your family well? '
Ammaa, I have never enquired you
all my life ' are you well? '
but even in your death-bed
you fondly ask, ' are you well? '
I explode in sobs, all within-
O.. how can I tell you
I swell in love
for you ' Maa! '
