Please Forgive Me
Please forgive me
if I now choose.
Choose a little time.
Time to answer
a higher calling.
After years of servitude
of gainful employment.
Is it really too much
too much to realistically ask?
Too much to ask
after decades decades;
of working earning;
my crust my daily bread?
Poured out my heart my soul
my sweat my tears; my breath my years;
my mind; into multiple enterprises;
in varied jobs; countries; across my years.
The years have gone
long years of serving;
in which I gave my all;
so gladfully gleefully given.
In the brink of an eye years raced by
yet sometimes; minutes waxed; waned in;
mindless repetition. Thus gladly given years;
were spent in serving economic serfdom.
Yet my heart rejoiced despite no choice.
Rewards of nurturing sustaining others.
Truly carries its own; a greater blessing.
My soul so oft renewed; sang praises sweetly.
Here and there I shed a tear when wronged;
mistreated falsely accused; to all such will happen.
But I thanked my Lord; we were of one accord;
through such lessons; wisdom my Lord taught.
For there were willful times when I did not walk
as I ought; perhaps used an inappropriate; base retort.
Observed sins; my Lord in communion; in loving patience healed.
Amazing Grace; universally bestowed upon; created human race.
