Sport of a Girl
When she dances
Bathed in a waterfall of moonlight,
I can see the gentleness
In her delicate eyes.
She’s often flirtatious
Evenings on a city balcony
Whispering seductively
Softer than a baby’s kiss.
She laughs holding her wineglass
While disco music plays on midnight dance floors,
And she’s completely the woman
All the breathless boys adore.
She deserves all this happiness and more,
Her beauty shimmers unparalleled
From ancient times that came before;
But like a protective father,
I worry for her safety
In this cruel, demoralizing world
That makes sport of a girl
When she shatters in some glamorous tragedy
For the exciting media flash of the lonely moment.
