The Love That Makes Everything Right
Conversing in starlight
In a night of a thousand dreams,
We were laughing a midnight
Watching the headlights flicker by
Like drunken fireflies.
I'm so happy to see you,
I find such consolation
In the way you smile,
Your eyes are my home
Whenever I'm lonely.
When you were a young girl,
You played piano and sang
As sunlight shone through the window
Of your Saturday room
And settled on purple flowers.
Everyday I fall in love
Like when we were children
Walking the sweet sidewalk
In front of Mrs. O'Brian's Bakery
In the afternoon after school.
One day the world will exist
Long after we've parted
With your lingering perfume
And our final kiss,
But I know we made everything better
For our moment in this place.
