The Daybreak
The distant mountains gleam and glitter
With the sun rising in all his glory
The world awakes to songs and sounds
And takes up all its chores so cheery
The green woods echo the song of birds
Poured in strains of sweet melody
The silvery rills that run through dales
Sizzle and simmer in neat prosody
Birds that leave their nocturnal haunts
Dart to heaven's measureless bounds
Shepherds lead their docile flock
To graze on grassy mountain heights
The spotted deer and the white hare
Come out from their close covert
On the meadows and over the plains
They nibble the grass and run about
Lovely groves and gorgeous gardens
Buzz with the hum of Bumble bees
The agile squirrels with bushy tails
In great vigour, run up the trees
From the boughs of arching trees
Hang the blooms of colourful hue
Wow! They look so exotic to view
Bright with the touch of morning dew
A brilliant glow illumines the earth
And the spell of darkness - come to cease
Casting the cover of snowy mantle
The morn has emerged in serene peace
Like a child that wakes from sleep
Fresh after a night long rest,
The world is once more back to life
With man and beast, so richly blest.
