An Elegy (a Corpse Tale)
Death, you rock the world
As none escape your embrace
On touch of your cold hands
Eyes that failed benign look
Now liberate hot tears;
And lips that restriant smile
Now part in lamentation.
Death, you rule the world
For on your proclamation
Folks who forgot my dwelling
Rush to gather for last glance
Once envied my beauty
Now beautify me
In fresh flowers and fine fabric
And I lay in hands
Failed to support in my fall
Now handle me with care
In my last journey.
Death, you won the world
For you beat life
As I lay lifeless
Watching, farce farewell
Of benighted world.
