J…To A Nunnery
Blue Cohosh, Spring Beauties, Trillium
Purple the forest floor
Earth exhales a fertile scent
Newborn leaves unwrinkle
Wild leeks rarefy the air
Sun catches ripples on the creek
Clear, cold water
Invites a walk, a dip
Not quite a swim
Jacket, sweat shirt, bra and jeans
Drape the swaying tree
Sneakers, socks and panties
Protecting pampered winter skin
Cover feet and bottom
Gravely banks
Sharp edged, slippery rocks
Require concentration
Icy April water
Bracing, numbing
Glorious in this wealthy air
