Guffaw, Scouring Hyena

In the luxuriant, yet petrified floor
Of the torrid palms of her savanna
Where the tigers' prance and scamper
And the farce blades of soughing grasses
Are combed to placidness upon their heavy paws
Whilst his svelte and famished pillars stood
And grinded upon the torrid pebbles
And they rattled in an apprehension
And trembled upon the covetousness
Instigated by tiger's vitriol that she identified
Whilst he sulked in the corner of her
Sparse stream of bigoted empathy
Shrouded in a discreet subterfuge;
Discreetly flagrant, a blatant contradiction
Yet no one pried, and no one understood
Not even the vicarious vulturine brethren,
Witnessing the gnashing of a tooth on a tooth,
Perched amongst the fringes of the dunes
That climbs and crumples upon the palms
Of a sweaty savanna, like fingers or claws
Clutching a prison, enclosing the meager hyena
With his tongue jutting out and slavering
Contouring a wryly bent grin, yet again
No one understood, or better yet,
No one cared, not even her scrolling clouds
That hazily undulated into his musings
That drove a frenzy to keel over just to taste
The dry and desiccated streaks of her air
A carpet of her hair, to her languid head
And in this scavenging, you may find him
If you would twist your conceited vision,
Vindictive and consumed by vanity,
He, the hyena that he is, wagging its tail
Gilded with a lacquer smile and taunt snicker
Filling the vacuous legroom of the grounds
With a dazing cacophony, the hyena's laugh;
A chortle for a bawl, he indisputably rolls
And a snivel for a snigger, stalled amidst the tigers
This is an epistle for his glory riveted in a mockery
And this not proposed for your, neither her, mercy
This is another anthology of a thousand hunting game
For a despondent scavenger, for a hyena,
Who had reduced himself in harlequin's mask
In order to live on, even on the edges,
Of her, inexorably, and your, obsequious villages
Guffaw, scouring hyena.

Every time my ship comes in
A hurricane blows it out again
Stormy weather seems to hang around my door
My sweet bird of paradise
Flew the coop on me last night

As The Rain Falls

Friend as the rain begins to pour, its adverse effects we endure.
For the rains, they will not last, as the sun breaks the overcast.
However, all the rain has a worth, as it replenishes a dry earth.
Those rains so heavy as they fall, soon trickle to no rain at all.

We have showers in life as well, but as they fall no one can tell.
In our showers instead of rain, poured upon us is trial and pain.
In a trial, our heart may bleed, but like the rain, they fill a need,
To make us all more like Christ, as He molds us for Eternal Life.

Like the rains when they pour, trials are controlled by The Lord.
However trials get their start, they are used to shape our heart.
And much like the rains friend, all of our trials will have an end.
Though they come with grief, in God’s time, they’re rather brief.

When the rains begin to slow, at times we’ll see God’s rainbow.
It is the promise put in the sky, by The Lord who reigns on high,
To never again destroy the world, with the flood He had unfurled.
A promise given to Noah friend; a righteous example to all men.

Noah heard God and believed; God’s Righteousness he received.
When God judges the earth again, He will save all righteous men.
A Righteousness found in Christ, Who came to be God’s sacrifice.
When in Christ we do believe, His Righteousness we then receive.

Beyond the promise Noah received, we get more when we believe,
With our hope in Jesus Christ, comes an end to the rains of strife.
All who believe in Jesus Christ, are promised by Him Eternal Life.
With an end to all temporal pain, as we, with Him, Eternally Reign.

The Midnight Rains

The minute drops of the rains came chanting on our heels when our hearts banged and in rapidity panted for breath, we noticed a beckoning arrival. An arrival of a mystery. A two and a half hour of non-stop rains, rains without halting intents. The verve with which we first acclaimed as a hallmark started fading. The arena for reading insights was almost deserted. The numbers were just some margins after the tenth roman numeral. The rains once again never adhered to our claim. More forcefully, it sprinkled out with defining accuracies. The rains were as pure as the dew and in-depthed with admonitions. The night was ever daring, spectacular and to whisper the least, just befitting. Thunderstorms and lightinings were proudly noticeable but their mission was never violent. The rains finally showed brilliant signs of vanishing. It halted, our plea was heard and our prospects once again came to the lime-light like never before.

Aunt Mattie's Quilt

Aunt Mattie bent a thousand times down the long black rows
Then battled with the angry weeds so little seeds could grow
Come summer Mattie pulled the snow from cruel and cutting bolls
She was patient pale and slender and was only eight years old
Round 'n round the spinning wheel beneath Aunt Mattie's boot
She recalled the soil and cotton seeds and summer's hopeful shoots
Two winters spun out summer's threads in rich and creamy folds
And she had a bolt of cotton cloth when she turned ten years old
If we bend and plant the seeds and tame the wicked weeds
If we let the sun and rain assist and simplify our needs
If we follow in the barefoot path of one persistent girl
We'll throw a healing quilt across an ever ailing world
Indigo and lavender made up Aunt Mattie's sky
Remembering her childhood days she made the rustic dye
The hour before the day would end it fed young Mattie's dream
She made indigo and lavender when she turned just fourteen
If we bend and plant the seeds and tame the wicked weeds
If we let the sun and rain assist and simplify our needs
If we follow in the barefoot path of one persistent girl
We'll throw a healing quilt across an ever ailing world
