Where Are the Fireflies?
Mystified by a tiny firefly
I gazed in childlike trance
The magical flickering lights -
Did it carry in its hands?
And then came some more
Like earthly stars they twinkle
Around the tree trunk's core
Fairies dancing in a circle.
Fireflies are slowly fading
And I rarely see them now
Our air is suffocating
That is killing them somehow.
Will future children see
The magic of their beauty?
Or see them in the pictures
No lights that flicker brightly.
