Funeral Reflections
In these sad moments as kind comments increased,
Not one was heard by the stoic deceased.
May be best to treat living as dead
By being sure nothing callous is said.
Remember their good points.
Discount their faults.
Beware of frivolous, picayune assaults.
Be glad for their presence as part of your life.
Stop what you’re doing in their moments of strife.
Stand at the crypt and vow to strive
To be kind to the living while they’re still alive.
