Devotion 1678 Initial Version
Devotion now, as then, persists,
as wellspring which may not be broken,
lament turns triumph and insists
upon a heartfelt love's sighed token.
Thus memory may troubles soothe,
prepare for future brow unfurrowed,
as hope and trust henceforth removed
all thorns, all storms, all dark caves burrowed.
Time slips away, yet one eternal
poetess all praise deserves,
who, light-in-darkness, all infernal
blocks spiting tocsin - never swerves
