Poem in a Prayer
Many times I feared,
that it was you that I had lost.
And then I soon find out,
I was too engrossed.
With myself alone,
was all that I could think.
Strange to say it was these thoughts,
that brought me to the brink.
You've seen me break apart,
And fall to pieces at your feet.
In this vicious cycle,
It's almost my way to greet.
My memory is a bad one,
for times that were great.
Always seemingly so empty,
like a grey blank slate.
And then it starts to work,
when I remember all the bad.
The past I wish to bury,
the past I wish I never had.
You have always been there,
through the thick and thin.
You have been there when I cried,
And been there when I grinned.
Your presence is so gentle.
So soothing and so calm.
Easily overtaken
by fake luster and fake charms.
I wish it were a lie,
but is the truth nonetheless.
For now the foot I wish to place,
is by far my best.
I am tired of disappointing,
the people I have around,
They may rage on and on,
but from you I hear not a sound.
You quietly accept,
everything I put forth.
You don't even question,
you don't even cough.
