The Golden Age

Long ere the Muse the strenuous chords had swept,
And the first lay as yet in silence slept,
A Time there was which since has stirred the lyre
To notes of wail and accents warm with fire;
Moved the soft Mantuan to his silvery strain,
And him who sobbed in pentametric pain;
To which the World, waxed desolate and old,
Fondly reverts, and calls the Age of Gold.

Then, without toil, by vale and mountain side,
Men found their few and simple wants supplied;
Plenty, like dew, dropped subtle from the air,
And Earth's fair gifts rose prodigal as prayer.
Love, with no charms except its own to lure,
Was swiftly answered by a love as pure.
No need for wealth; each glittering fruit and flower,
Each star, each streamlet, made the maiden's dower.
Far in the future lurked maternal throes,
And children blossomed painless as the rose.
No harrowing question `why,' no torturing `how,'
Bent the lithe frame or knit the youthful brow.
The growing mind had naught to seek or shun;
Like the plump fig it ripened in the sun.
From dawn to dark Man's life was steeped in joy,
And the gray sire was happy as the boy.
Nature with Man yet waged no troublous strife,
And Death was almost easier than Life.
Safe on its native mountains throve the oak,
Nor ever groaned 'neath greed's relentless stroke.
No fear of loss, no restlessness for more,
Drove the poor mariner from shore to shore.
No distant mines, by penury divined,
Made him the sport of fickle wave or wind.
Rich for secure, he checked each wish to roam,
And hugged the safe felicity of home.

Those days are long gone by; but who shall say
Why, like a dream, passed Saturn's Reign away?
Over its rise, its ruin, hangs a veil,
And naught remains except a Golden Tale.
Whether 'twas sin or hazard that dissolved
That happy scheme by kindly Gods evolved;
Whether Man fell by lucklessness or pride,-
Let jarring sects, and not the Muse, decide.
But when that cruel Fiat smote the earth,
Primeval Joy was poisoned at its birth.
In sorrow stole the infant from the womb,
The agëd crept in sorrow to the tomb.
The ground, so bounteous once, refused to bear
More than was wrung by sower, seed, and share.

The Siege of Corinth

In the year since Jesus died for men,
Eighteen hundred years and ten,
We were a gallant company,
Riding o'er land, and sailing o'er sea
Oh ! but we went merrily !
We forded the river, and clomb the high hill,
Never our steeds for a day stood still;
Whether we lay in the cave or the shed,
Our sleep fell soft on the hardest bed:
Whether we couch'd in our rough capote,
On the rougher plank of our gliding boat.
Or stretch'd on the beach, or our saddles spread
As a pillow beneath the resting head,
Fresh we woke upon the morrow:
All our thoughts and words had scope,
We had health, and we had hope,
Toil and travel, but no sorrow.
We were of all tongues and creeds; ---
Some were those who counted beads,
Some of mosque, and some of church;
Yet through the wide world might ye search,
Nor find a motlier crew nor blither.
But some are dead, and some are gone,
And some are scatter'd and alone,
And some are rebels on the hills
That look along Epirus' valleys,
Where freedom still at moments rallies,
And pays in blood oppression's ills;
And some are in a far countree,
And some all restlessly at home;
But never more, oh ! never, we
Shall meet to revel and to roam.
But those hardy days flew cheerily !
And when they now fall drearily,
My thoughts, like swallows, skim the main,
And bear my spirit back again
Over the earth, and through the air,
A wild bird and a wanderer.
'Tis this that ever wakes my strain,
And oft, too oft, implores again
The few who may endure my lay,
To follow me so far away.
Stranger --- wilt thou follow now,
And sit with me on Acro-Corinth's brow?

I
Many a vanish'd year and age,
And tempest's breath, and battle's rage,
Have swept o'er Corinth; yet she stands,
A fortress form'd to Freedom's hands.

Annals of Assur-Nasir-Pal column I

To Ninip most powerful hero, great, chief of the gods, warrior, powerful Lord, whose onset in battle has not been opposed, eldest son,

crusher of opponents, first-born son of Nukimmut, supporter of the seven, noble ruler, King of the gods the producers, governor, he who rolls along the mass

of heaven and earth, opener of canals, treader of the wide earth, the god who in his divinity nourishes heaven and earth, the beneficent,

the exalted, the powerful, who has not lessened the glory of his face, head of nations, bestower of sceptres, glorious, over all cities a ruler,

valiant, the renown of whose sceptre is not approached, chief of widespread influence, great among the gods, shading from the southern sun, Lord of Lords, whose hand the vault of heaven

(and) earth has controlled, a King in battle mighty who has vanquished opposition, victorious, powerful, Lord of water-courses and seas,

strong, not yielding, whose onset brings down the green corn, smiting the land of the enemy, like the cutting of reeds, the deity who changes not his purposes,

the light of heaven and earth, a bold leader on the waters, destroyer of them that hate (him), a spoiler (and) Lord of the disobedient, dividing enemies, whose name in the speech of the gods

no god has ever disregarded, the gatherer of life, the god(?) whose prayers are good, whose abode is in the city of Calah, a great Lord, my Lord - (who am) Assur-nasir-pal, the mighty King,

King of multitudes, a Prince unequalled, Lord of all the four countries, powerful over hosts of men, the possession of Bel and Ninip the exalted and Anu

and of Dakan, a servant of the great gods in the lofty shrine for great (O Ninip) is thy heart; a worshipper of Bel whose might upon

thy great deity is founded, and thou makest righteous his life, valiant, warrior, who in the service of Assur his Lord hath proceeded, and among the Kings

of the four regions who has not his fellow, a Prince for admiration, not sparing opponents, mighty leader, who an equal

has not, a Prince reducing to order his disobedient ones, who has subdued whole multitudes of men, a strong worker, treading down

the heads of his enemies, trampling on all foes, crushing assemblages of rebels, who in the service of the great gods his Lords

marched vigorously and the lands of all of them his hand captured, caused the forests of all of them to fall, and received their tribute, taking

securities, establishing laws over all lands, when Assur the Lord who proclaims my name and augments my Royalty

laid hold upon his invincible power for the forces of my Lordship, for Assur-nasir-pal, glorious Prince, worshipper of the great gods

the generous, the great, the powerful, acquirer of cities and forests and the territory of all of them, King of Lords, destroying the wicked, strengthening

the peaceful, not sparing opponents, a Prince of firm will(?) one who combats oppression, Lord of all Kings,

Lord of Lords, the acknowledged, King of Kings, seated gloriously, the renown of Ninip the warrior, worshipper of the great gods, prolonging the benefits (conferred by) his fathers:

a Prince who in the service of Assur and the Sun-god, the gods in whom he trusted, royally marched to turbulent lands, and Kings who had rebelled against him

[he cut off like grass, all their lands to his feet he subjected, restorer of the worship of the goddesses and that of the great gods,

Chief unwavering, who for the guidance of the heads (and) elders of his land is a steadfast guardian, the work of whose hands and

the gift of whose finger the great gods of heaven and earth have exalted, and his steps over rulers have they established forever;

One-sided Love Affair

(words & music by bill campbell)
If you want to be loved,
Baby, youve got to love me, too.
If you want to be loved,
Baby, youve got to love me, too.
Oh yeah, cause I aint for no one-sided love affair.
If you wanna be kissed,
Well, youve gotta kiss me, too.
Oh yeah, if you wanna be kissed,
Well, you gotta kiss me, too.
cause I aint for no one-sided love affair.
Well, fair exchange bears no robbery,
And the whole world will know that its true.
Understanding solves all problems, baby,
Thats why Im telling you
If you wanna be hugged,
Well, you gotta hug me, too.
Oh yeah, if you wanna be hugged,
Well, youve gotta hug me, too.
Yeah, cause I aint for no one-sided love affair.
If you know you cant take it,
Baby, why try to give it?
If you know you cant take it,
Then baby, why try to give it?
cause I aint for no one-sided love affair.
Well, fair exchange bears no robbery,
And the whole world will know that its true.
Understanding solves all problems, baby,
Thats why Im telling you
If you wanna be hugged,
Well, you gotta hug me, too.
Oh yeah, if you wanna be hugged,
Baby, you gotta hug me, too.

How To...

How to...
Demonstrate love!
And,
How to...
Just do,
And believe it.
And,
How to...
Make the best of moments,
With someone who is worthy...
To keep a cuddle hugged up!

How to...
Identify a reason!
And,
How to...
Receive and be pleased.

How to...
Clear of a mind of doubt,
When what appears is there...
With unquestionable peace.

We sometimes impatiently,
Expect...
And get,
Deceived!

And we,
Would rather see an opportunity leave.
Than connect a happiness!

How to...
Demonstrate love!
And,
How to...
Just do,
And believe it.
And,
How to...
Make the best of moments,
With someone who is worthy...

Edmund Spenser

Ruins of Rome, by Bellay

1

Ye heavenly spirits, whose ashy cinders lie
Under deep ruins, with huge walls opprest,
But not your praise, the which shall never die
Through your fair verses, ne in ashes rest;
If so be shrilling voice of wight alive
May reach from hence to depth of darkest hell,
Then let those deep Abysses open rive,
That ye may understand my shreiking yell.
Thrice having seen under the heavens' vail
Your tomb's devoted compass over all,
Thrice unto you with loud voice I appeal,
And for your antique fury here do call,
The whiles that I with sacred horror sing,
Your glory, fairest of all earthly thing.

2

Great Babylon her haughty walls will praise,
And sharpèd steeples high shot up in air;
Greece will the old Ephesian buildings blaze;
And Nylus' nurslings their Pyramids fair;
The same yet vaunting Greece will tell the story
Of Jove's great image in Olympus placed,
Mausolus' work will be the Carian's glory,
And Crete will boast the Labybrinth, now 'rased;
The antique Rhodian will likewise set forth
The great Colosse, erect to Memory;
And what else in the world is of like worth,
Some greater learnèd wit will magnify.
But I will sing above all monuments
Seven Roman Hills, the world's seven wonderments.

3

Thou stranger, which for Rome in Rome here seekest,
And nought of Rome in Rome perceiv'st at all,
These same old walls, old arches, which thou seest,
Old Palaces, is that which Rome men call.
Behold what wreak, what ruin, and what waste,
And how that she, which with her mighty power
Tam'd all the world, hath tam'd herself at last,
The prey of time, which all things doth devour.
Rome now of Rome is th' only funeral,
And only Rome of Rome hath victory;
Ne ought save Tyber hastening to his fall
Remains of all: O world's inconstancy.

Love and Honor

Sed neque Medorum silvae, ditissima terra
Nec pulcher Ganges, atque auro turbidus Haemus,
Laudibus Angligenum certent; non Bactra, nec Indi,
Totaque thuriferis Panchaia pinguis arenis.

Imitation.

Yet let not Median woods, (abundant track!)
Nor Ganges fair, nor Haemus, miser-like,
Proud of his hoarded gold, presume to vie
With Britain's boast and praise; nor Persian Bactra,
Nor India's coasts, nor all Panchaia's sands,
Rich, and exulting in their lofty towers.

____

Let the green olive glad Hesperian shores;
Her tawny citron, and her orange groves,
These let Iberia boast; but if in vain,
To win the stranger plant's diffusive smile,
The Briton labours, yet our native minds,
Our constant bosoms, these the dazzled world
May view with envy; these Iberian dames
Survey with fix'd esteem and fond desire.
Hapless Elvira! thy disastrous fate
May well this truth explain, nor ill adorn
The British lyre; then chiefly, if the Muse,
Nor vain, nor partial, from the simple guise
Of ancient record catch the pensive lay,
And in less grovelling accents give to Fame.
Elvira! loveliest maid! the Iberian realm
Could boast no purer breast, no sprightlier mind,
No race more splendent, and no form so fair.
Such was the chance of war, this peerless maid,
In life's luxuriant bloom, enrich'd the spoil
Of British victors, victory's noblest pride!
She, she alone, amid the wailful train
Of captive maids, assign'd to Henry's care,
Lord of her life, her fortune, and her fame!
He, generous youth! with no penurious hand,
The tedious moments, that unjoyous roll
Where Freedom's cheerful radiance shines no more,
Essay'd to soften; conscious of the pang
That Beauty feels, to waste its fleeting hours
In some dim fort, by foreign rule restrain'd,
Far from the haunts of men, or eye of day!
Sometimes, to cheat her bosom of its cares,
Her kind protector number'd o'er the toils
Himself had worn; the frowns of angry seas,
Or hostile rage, or faithless friend, more fell

The peacock’s dance

I gave hugs to the kids of colleagues
So that they would in turn give mine their hugs.
Also I went to give hugs to the kids
In return for the hugs my kids have got.
How lovely my kids are in others’ arms!
I bask in the false glory built around.
Such glories are built on mutual concerns
And on the obligatory comments.
Participants as the only audience,
Merits are weighed with mutuality,
Unlike the audience other than participants.
Peacocks judge peacocks’ dances reciprocally
Unlike other birds watching peacocks’ dances..

Gone

(jon-john)
Youve been in love once before
But never quite like this (no)
And you fall in love more and more
With every single kiss (yeah)
So tell me why do you do the things
That you continue to do
When Im not the one who hurt you so
I wouldnt cheat on you
It cant keep goin on
Like the feeling doesnt exist
Or the one you love will be the one you miss
Then youll dream about love and how it would be
But then youll wake up to reality to find Im gone, Im gone
Then youll start to think and reminisce
coz its my hugs and kisses youll miss
But Im gone, Im gone
You go through life searching for love
And youre lucky if you find (yeah)
Someone who cares about you so
And will never mislead you (no)
But if you hide the way you feel, why do you carry on?
coz I wont stay around to wait on you to make up your mind
It cant keep going on like the feeling doesnt exist
Or the one you love will be the one you miss
Then youll dream about love and how it would be
But then youll wake up to reality to find Im gone, Im gone
Then youll start to think and reminisce
coz its my hugs and kisses youll miss
But Im gone, Im gone
It cant keep going on like the feeling doesnt exist
Or the one you love will be the one you miss
Then youll dream about love and how it would be
But then youll wake up to reality to find Im gone, Im gone
Then youll start to think and reminisce
coz its my hugs and kisses youll miss
But Im gone, Im gone
Then youll dream about love and how it would be
But then youll wake up to reality to find Im gone, Im gone
Then youll start to think and reminisce
coz its my hugs and kisses youll miss
Im gone, Im gone

Gimme All Your Lovin'

I got to have a shot of what you got is oh so sweet.
You got to make it hot, like a boomerang I need a repeat,
Gimme all your lovin', all your hugs and kisses too,
Gimme all your lovin', don't let up until we're through,
You got to whip it up and hit me like a ton of lead,
If I blow my top will you let it go to your head?
Gimme all your lovin', all your hugs and kisses too,
Gimme all your lovin', don't let up until we're through.
You got to move it up and use it like a screwball would.
You got to pack it up, work it like a new boy would.
Gimme all your lovin', all your hugs and kisses too.
Gimme all your lovin', don't let up until we're through.
Gimme all your lovin', all your hugs and kisses too.
Gimme all your lovin', don't let up until we're through.
Until we're through.
Gimme all your lovin'
Gimme all your lovin'
And your kisses too.

Stupid Mop

Don't you want people to love you
My spanking that's the only thing I want so much
Spanking that's the only thing I want so much
That's the only thing I want so much
Don't you want people to love you
My spanking that's the only thing I want so much
That's the only thing I want so much
Why is that better than being hugged
Why is that better than being hugged
Because you get closer to the person
Closer to the person
Why is that better than being hugged
Because you get closer to the person
Closer to the person
Just like a person having sex feels cared for
We wanna be loved so we have sex together
And they feel loved about that
And this is the way it makes me feel loved
I want it I dream about it I think about it I want it
Just like a girl wants sex with a boy you know
It's the way I'll always be probably
My last one was born in the system
See they're stupid very stupid those people over there
They're stupid
These people are so below mentality honest to God really
You know what I mean he got the nerve to bug me (x2)
This mentality honest to God really
You know what I mean he got the nerve to bug me
Honest to God really
You know what I mean he got the nerve to bug me
Bug me bug me he got the nerve to bug me
Everything seems so eight ball (x2)
And I I don't know if that's my imagination but umm
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me
And I don't know if that's my imagination but umm
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me (x2)
Think they got me
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me hmm
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me
Know if that's my imagination but umm
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me
She prides herself on her cleaning habits (x2)
Hey foxymophandlemama that's me
She prides herself on her cleaning habits (x2)
It's a lovely stupid mop it is
There's something really screwey about no streaking
Is it any old dumb mop It streaks
Come on mop no streaking mop
I don't mind mop the floor my mop streaks I don't like it
It's not me it's the mop

I'll Show My Passion

Come to me when,
Something's bothering you.
Come to me when you want to boo-hoo...
And I'll show my passion.
With compassion.

Come to me when,
Something's bothering you.
Come to me when you want to boo-hoo...
And I'll show my passion.
With compassion.

I'm not the one who sits around,
To put folks down like they're the clowns.
Without a passion.
Or show compassion.

I'm not the one who sits around,
To put folks down like they're the clowns.
I do show passion.
With compassion.

Come to me when,
You want to be hugged and close...
And I'll show my passion,
With compassion.

Come to me when,
You want to be hugged and close...
And I'll show my passion,
With compassion.

Give up your fears to feel,
My passion.
Give up your fears to feel,
Compassion.
Give up your fears to feel,
There's nothing that you have to prove...
Or be someone that isn't you.

Give up your fears to feel,
My passion.
Give up your fears to feel,
Compassion.
Give up your fears to feel,
There's nothing that you have to prove...
Or be someone that isn't you.

When I Was Asleep

Tonight I woke up in the midst of the night
Tonight I walked out of my dreams with bare feet
My steps were chasing moonlight
I were holding my.fears so tight
At the darkness of the night

The clouds like a nightmare were ebbed all around
I was walking there all alone
Maybe I was chasing emptiness
The voices of people who are gone melted with the silence of the night
Were singing sorrowful songs
Reminding me the longings of gone's

My fears were chasing shades of the loneliness
They've Took away my happiness
Under the moonlight I saw she was sitting there surrounded by emptiness
I went near her to talk she looked mockingly to my face
Tears were covering her face
We both had the same face
I saw myself there

Just I looked around and I've took a deep breath to run as fast as the wind of stormy night

Oh my dearest God what is going on
Why I'm here
What all these ment to be

I were there at misty night with bare feet I continued running breathlessly
There were little kids just I found out
What are they doing at the wouds at the mist of the night
I admired
I went near them but they were too busy to see me or at magic night I've turned invisible too,
if its true I won't admire

Oh at once I saw myself when I was a kid
I was alone stood there apart, away
My friends were playing happy there
But I was alone with an apple red cheeks always shy as I used to be
Yes that was me always shy and alone

Oh God I couldn't keep myself crying
Ah childhood days and friends
How precious how much it was touching to be there again

I continued my way I've saw a shining light through my way
My grandmother was standing right there
With angelic smile oh my beautiful angle that's she
As she always was, although she is gone She will stay the queen of my heart

33 Miners......the Happy Fairy Tale End

Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy and Bashful,
Seven miners all so so sad adversity has held its grip,

Nasty Queens poison apple whose life of Snow White tries to null,
But look the Prince is here to kiss, and in the bud this deed to nip.

The minors so so happy, hugging and smiling a fairy tale end,
Yes a fairy tale indeed a message to the world to send, but

Look! A real life story has unfolded before our very eyes,
Deep underground thirty three Chilean miners entombed below,
The world takes notice, mankind prays no one dies.
Two long months pass then God s help he doth sow,

With comrade’s ingenuity of man a capsule is born,
Down a sunken shaft it sinks to the men it will save,
The Lord delivers them to family from whom they’ve been torn,
One by one they step out so strong and so so bloody brave,

Everyone is hugged by the president of the land,
Families unite hugs, happiness flashed around the world,
A real life fairy tale dancing with this happy happy end,
....................................So many hugs to fill a grand stand

Metamorphoses: Book The Fifth

WHILE Perseus entertain'd with this report
His father Cepheus, and the list'ning court,
Within the palace walls was heard aloud
The roaring noise of some unruly crowd;
Not like the songs which chearful friends prepare
For nuptial days, but sounds that threaten'd war;
And all the pleasures of this happy feast,
To tumult turn'd, in wild disorder ceas'd:
So, when the sea is calm, we often find
A storm rais'd sudden by some furious wind.
The Story of Chief in the riot Phineus first appear'd,
Perseus The rash ringleader of this boist'rous herd,
continu'd And brandishing his brazen-pointed lance,
Behold, he said, an injur'd man advance,
Stung with resentment for his ravish'd wife,
Nor shall thy wings, o Perseus, save thy life;
Nor Jove himself; tho' we've been often told
Who got thee in the form of tempting gold.
His lance was aim'd, when Cepheus ran, and said,
Hold, brother, hold; what brutal rage has made
Your frantick mind so black a crime conceive?
Are these the thanks that you to Perseus give?
This the reward that to his worth you pay,
Whose timely valour sav'd Andromeda?
Nor was it he, if you would reason right,
That forc'd her from you, but the jealous spight
Of envious Nereids, and Jove's high decree;
And that devouring monster of the sea,
That ready with his jaws wide gaping stood
To eat my child, the fairest of my blood.
You lost her then, when she seem'd past relief,
And wish'd perhaps her death, to ease your grief
With my afflictions: not content to view
Andromeda in chains, unhelp'd by you,
Her spouse, and uncle; will you grieve that he
Expos'd his life the dying maid to free?
And shall you claim his merit? Had you thought
Her charms so great, you shou'd have bravely sought
That blessing on the rocks, where fix'd she lay:
But now let Perseus bear his prize away,
By service gain'd, by promis'd faith possess'd;
To him I owe it, that my age is bless'd
Still with a child: Nor think that I prefer
Perseus to thee, but to the loss of her.
Phineus on him, and Perseus, roul'd about
His eyes in silent rage, and seem'd to doubt
Which to destroy; 'till, resolute at length,
He threw his spear with the redoubled strength
His fury gave him, and at Perseus struck;
But missing Perseus, in his seat it stuck.

We need 4 hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.

Shes Got It All

Shes got it all
(drew womack/craig wiseman)
Shes got every quality
From a all the way to z
Its easy to see shes the perfect girl
Shes got every single thing
That makes up my wildest dreams
Sometimes I still cant quite believe shes holding me cause
Shes got it all my heart my soul my wishes
All of my love my hugs my kisses
Everything that means anything at all
All my life Ive spent hopin
I could give someone such devotion
Every sweet memory I can recall
She got it all
You know that I admit
Someone to love like this
Only existed in my prayers
Until I saw her face
I knew I found the place
Where I could keep my every faith eternally cause
Shes got it all my heart my soul my wishes
All of my love my hugs my kisses
Everything that means anything at all
All my life Ive spent hopin
I could give someone such devotion
Every sweet memory I can recall
She got it all
All my life Ive spent hopin
I could give someone such devotion
Every sweet memory I can recall
All my heart my soul my wishes
All of my love my hugs my kisses
Every sweet memory I can recall
She got it all

Gimme All Your Lovin

I got to have a shot of what you got is oh so sweet.
You got to make it hot, like a boomerang I need a repeat,
Gimme all your lovin, all your hugs and kisses too,
Gimme all your lovin, dont let up until were through,
You got to whip it up and hit me like a ton of lead,
If I blow my top will you let it go to your head?
Gimme all your lovin, all your hugs and kisses too,
Gimme all your lovin, dont let up until were through.
You got to move it up and use it like a scrweball would.
You got to pack it up, work it like a new boy should.
Gimme all your lovin, all your hugs and kisses too.
Gimme all your lovin, dont let up until were through.

Gone without Goodbye - English and Japanese

Lost letters lost letters
With the clouds may slide
After finding them waiting
On their hands you lie.

Lost kisses lost kisses
With the wind may fly
After finding them sleeping
On their shoulder you lie.

Lost hugs lost hugs
All the needy ones find
Then slowly and kind
Do hold them tight.

Roll up on them tightly
But with greatest care
Gently delicate kindly:
-Shhh! Don't let them be aware.

Letters, Kisses and Hugs
Vacuum all the cries
Spick and span cleaned
Let all smiles, rise!

I wrote this as a prayer letter for all the 3? 1 1? (March 11) tsunami victims (dead or alive) I hope will really get to the ones it was meant for..
here is the japanese interpretation by my friend Miyuki san:
