Athletic Endeavor
Once more it begins
My mind focused
On the task
at hand
Ready?
Muscles tightening
The gathering up
of Both mind
And body
Go!
With every ounce
Of strength and
Determination
I make the
Charge
The obstacle looms
Yet the distance
Shortens while
I push on
Steadily
Uncertainty dawns
As I draw nearer
This hurdle
In my
path
Now the moment
Final effort is
Demanded
I give my
All
No!
Failure!
All was not
Enough to leap
The dreaded hurdle
Exhausted I subside
Exhaling in defeat
Coming to a rest
Wheels against
The Curb
Dedicate to all those who daily challenge such 'hurdles'
