BEEN WONDERIN...by talile ali

BEEN WONDERIN

FOR MONTHS I BEEN WONDERIN
WHAT THE HECK WE'VE BEEN DOIN
I RUB YOUR ACHES OCCASSIONALLY
OR SHOP TO RACK AND RUIN

OFTEN WE'D LOOK IN EACH OTHER EYES
WITH SOME AWE AND SIN
I CANT HELP THINKIN OCCASSIONALLY
THAT YOU MIGHT WANNA BALL ME THEN

WHETHER ON A PICNIC TABLE
OR IN A POOL SOMEWHERE
YOU SEEM TO BE SO OBVIOUS
OF HOW YOU WANT ME THERE

MY GEARS ARE STRIPPED AND HORNY
I WANNA LAY YOU, NOW
AND DO THE LIGHT FANTASTIC
AS I BOUNCE ON YOUR BIG MOUNDS

SO LET MY LIPS EMBRACE YOURS SWEETLY
LINGERING AROUND YOUR TIPS
KISS THOSE MOIST, TENDER THEIGHS DEEPLY
CLINCHED INSIDE YOUR MASSIVE HIPS

Me So Horny Edited

Oh, so horny....ohh, so horny....ohh, so horny.
Me love you long time.
Oh, so horny....ohh, so horny....ohh, so horny.
Me love you long time.
Me, so horny....so, so horny...me, so horny.
Me love you long time.
Me, so horny....so, so horny... me, so horny....
Me love you long time.
Sittin at home watchin arsinio hall, so I got my black book for a freak to call.
Picked up the telephone and dialed the seven digits.
Said yo this is marquis baby, are you down with it?
I arrived at her house, knocked on the door.
Not having no idea of what the night had in store.
Im like a dog in heat, a freak without warning.
I have an appetite for love cause me so horny.
Oh, me so horny....ohh, me so horny...oh, me so horny.
Me love you long time.
Oh, me so horny....oh, so, so horny....oh, me so horny.
Me love you long time
Girls always ask me why I buck so much.
I say whats wrong baby doll, with being a mutt?
cause my nature is rising and you shouldnt be mad.
I wont tell your momma if you dont tell your dad.
I know hell be disgusted when he sees your clothes all messed up.
Wont your momma be so mad if she knew youve just been had.
Im a freak in heat, a dog without warning.
My appetite is love, cause me so horny.
Oh, so horny....ohh, so horny...oh, so horny.
Me love you love time.
Oh, so horny....oh, so, so horny....oh, so horny.
Me love you long time
You can say Im desperate.
Even call me perverted, but youll say Im a dog when I leave you lost and deserted.
Ill play witcha your heart and will show no shame.
Ill be blowin your mind cuase youre lame to the game.
Im just like that man they call georgie puddin pie.
Ill break their girls hearts and I make them cry.
Im like a dog in heat, a freak without warning.
I have an appetite for love cause me so horny.
Oh, so horny....ohh, so, so horny....oh, so horny.
Me love you long time
Oh, so horny....oh, so, so horny....oh, so horny.
Me love you long time
Ohh, so horny....ohh, h so horny....oh, so horny.
Ohh, so, so horny....ohh, so horny.
Me love you long time
Its true you were alone until you met me.
I was the first to dress you up and made you sexy.
You tell your parents that were going out.
Never to the movies, just straight to my house.

Who Were You Thinkin bout?

Who were you thinkin bout
Who were you thinkin about
Who were you thinkin bout
Were you thinkin bout me, baby
The first time she touched you hand ?
Were you thinkin bout me, baby
Did you forget you were my man
Were you thinking of me when you removed your ring ?
Or did you just think I would not think anything ?
Who were you thinkin about? who were you thinkin about?
Who were you thinkin bout? who were you thinkin about?
Who were you thinkin bout? who were you thinkin about?
Were you thinkin bout me, baby ?
Each time you kissed her lips ?
Were you thinkin bout me, baby ?
When your hands were on her hips?
Were you thinkin bout me did she do it like I do ?
Did you ever think of anyone but you now ?
Who were you thinkin bout? who were you thinkin about?
Who were you thinkin bout? who were you thinkin about?
Who were you thinkin bout? who were you thinkin about?
Were you thinking I would understand ?
And that I was a fool, and that I would never suspect
You were doing wrong ?
And tell me did you feel bad ? did it feel good ?
Did it feel like you thought it would ?
And I would never know ?
What you were thinking ?
Sure werent thinkin bout me
You were thinkin bout her, baby
You were thinkin bout you, baby
You werent thinkin bout me
Who were you thinkin bout? who were you thinkin about?
Who were you thinkin bout? who were you thinkin about?
Who were you thinkin bout? who were you thinkin about?
Sure werent thinkin bout me
Sure werent thinkin bout me
Who were you thinkin bout?
Sure werent thinkin bout me
Yeah, sure werent thinkin bout me
Im sure not thinkin bout you

Horny Pony

{b-side of cream}
Ahhh, yes.
New dance commercial take 1
Ahhh, yes.
There ya go, there ya go
Horny people, gather here
Horny people, gather here
Horny people, gather here,
We have somethin to put in all your ears
We got a new dance, for the next 8 years
Im talking about the dance that every parent fears
The most, its the sex dance, its the new dance,
And its rockin from coast-2-coast...
Im talkin about, Im talkin about,
Im talkin about the horny pony, yall
Come on. there ya go, there ya go. horny pony
Girl-friend, look at this dance prince is doin now. is he weird or what?
Sing. (horny pony... ow ow ow)
Now thats too freaky!
In the years of the war, we dont want 2 know
Youre buckin that body like u really go
For the hip stuff,
H and to the I and to the p
It aint enough just 2 do some exstacy.
U want it in your hip, u want it in your thigh
Its the dance that conservatives really most despise
cuz its the sex dance, its the new dance,
And its rockin every horny woman, every man
Its the horny pony, yall
(horny pony... ow ow ow) there ya go.
Turn around.
Chicken grease in the house.
Chicken grease? I dont know! thats it... I gotta run.
And u can run all the way 2 barcelona,
But u cant hide, the horny pony get ya gonna.
Dont look at me yall, I just wrote it,
Put on a record, wrapped it up, and then I sold it.
Horny people gather here,
Horny people gather here, for the next 8 years,
We got a new dance - its the horny pony.
Yeah, the musics jammin, but its about these words!
Sing. (horny pony... ow ow ow)
Girl... uh-uh... nope!
Did ya come 2 party now? (yeah-yeah)
Do ya really wanna now? (yeah-yeah)
If youre horny let me know (yeah-yeah)
A pony til ya boogie now (yeah-yeah)
So how am I supposed to do this dance?
How do you do that dance!? !
I cant do that... Im a lady. sister please!

(tom lavin)
Published by uncut music - bmi/procan
Doin it right, doin it right, doin it right, doin it right
The rock bands cookin and the drummers gettin down
Were doin it right on the wrong side of town
I know a place on the wrong side of town
The rock bands cookin and theyre gettin on down
The slot mans playin like his souls on fire

Go rev up your chevy, put your gas foot down
Were doin it right on the wrong side of town

The rock bands cookin and the drummers gettin down
Were doin it right on the wrong side of town
There aint no future gettin magazine girls
Taken to the club with their hard lovin thrills
No time for tears, trouble and sorrow
Rock and roll like theres no tomorrow
Turn off the tube and put your magazine down
Were doin it right on the wrong side of the town
Doin it right, doin it right, doin it right, doin it right

VI. Giuseppe Caponsacchi

Answer you, Sirs? Do I understand aright?
Have patience! In this sudden smoke from hell,—
So things disguise themselves,—I cannot see
My own hand held thus broad before my face
And know it again. Answer you? Then that means
Tell over twice what I, the first time, told
Six months ago: 't was here, I do believe,
Fronting you same three in this very room,
I stood and told you: yet now no one laughs,
Who then … nay, dear my lords, but laugh you did,
As good as laugh, what in a judge we style
Laughter—no levity, nothing indecorous, lords!
Only,—I think I apprehend the mood:
There was the blameless shrug, permissible smirk,
The pen's pretence at play with the pursed mouth,
The titter stifled in the hollow palm
Which rubbed the eyebrow and caressed the nose,
When I first told my tale: they meant, you know,
"The sly one, all this we are bound believe!
"Well, he can say no other than what he says.
"We have been young, too,—come, there's greater guilt!
"Let him but decently disembroil himself,
"Scramble from out the scrape nor move the mud,—
"We solid ones may risk a finger-stretch!
And now you sit as grave, stare as aghast
As if I were a phantom: now 't is—"Friend,
"Collect yourself!"—no laughing matter more—
"Counsel the Court in this extremity,
"Tell us again!"—tell that, for telling which,
I got the jocular piece of punishment,
Was sent to lounge a little in the place
Whence now of a sudden here you summon me
To take the intelligence from just—your lips!
You, Judge Tommati, who then tittered most,—
That she I helped eight months since to escape
Her husband, was retaken by the same,
Three days ago, if I have seized your sense,—
(I being disallowed to interfere,
Meddle or make in a matter none of mine,
For you and law were guardians quite enough
O' the innocent, without a pert priest's help)—
And that he has butchered her accordingly,
As she foretold and as myself believed,—
And, so foretelling and believing so,
We were punished, both of us, the merry way:
Therefore, tell once again the tale! For what?
Pompilia is only dying while I speak!
Why does the mirth hang fire and miss the smile?
My masters, there's an old book, you should con
For strange adventures, applicable yet,

III. The Other Half-Rome

Another day that finds her living yet,
Little Pompilia, with the patient brow
And lamentable smile on those poor lips,
And, under the white hospital-array,
A flower-like body, to frighten at a bruise
You'd think, yet now, stabbed through and through again,
Alive i' the ruins. 'T is a miracle.
It seems that, when her husband struck her first,
She prayed Madonna just that she might live
So long as to confess and be absolved;
And whether it was that, all her sad life long
Never before successful in a prayer,
This prayer rose with authority too dread,—
Or whether, because earth was hell to her,
By compensation, when the blackness broke
She got one glimpse of quiet and the cool blue,
To show her for a moment such things were,—
Or else,—as the Augustinian Brother thinks,
The friar who took confession from her lip,—
When a probationary soul that moved
From nobleness to nobleness, as she,
Over the rough way of the world, succumbs,
Bloodies its last thorn with unflinching foot,
The angels love to do their work betimes,
Staunch some wounds here nor leave so much for God.
Who knows? However it be, confessed, absolved,
She lies, with overplus of life beside
To speak and right herself from first to last,
Right the friend also, lamb-pure, lion-brave,
Care for the boy's concerns, to save the son
From the sire, her two-weeks' infant orphaned thus,
Andwith best smile of all reserved for him—
Pardon that sire and husband from the heart.
A miracle, so tell your Molinists!

There she lies in the long white lazar-house.
Rome has besieged, these two days, never doubt,
Saint Anna's where she waits her death, to hear
Though but the chink o' the bell, turn o' the hinge
When the reluctant wicket opes at last,
Lets in, on now this and now that pretence,
Too many by half,—complain the men of art,—
For a patient in such plight. The lawyers first
Paid the due visit—justice must be done;
They took her witness, why the murder was.
Then the priests followed properly,—a soul
To shrive; 't was Brother Celestine's own right,
The same who noises thus her gifts abroad.
But many more, who found they were old friends,
Pushed in to have their stare and take their talk

VII. Pompilia

I am just seventeen years and five months old,
And, if I lived one day more, three full weeks;
'T is writ so in the church's register,
Lorenzo in Lucina, all my names
At length, so many names for one poor child,
—Francesca Camilla Vittoria Angela
Pompilia Comparini,—laughable!
Also 't is writ that I was married there
Four years ago: and they will add, I hope,
When they insert my death, a word or two,—
Omitting all about the mode of death,—
This, in its place, this which one cares to know,
That I had been a mother of a son
Exactly two weeks. It will be through grace
O' the Curate, not through any claim I have;
Because the boy was born at, so baptized
Close to, the Villa, in the proper church:
A pretty church, I say no word against,
Yet stranger-like,—while this Lorenzo seems
My own particular place, I always say.
I used to wonder, when I stood scarce high
As the bed here, what the marble lion meant,
With half his body rushing from the wall,
Eating the figure of a prostrate man—
(To the right, it is, of entry by the door)
An ominous sign to one baptized like me,
Married, and to be buried there, I hope.
And they should add, to have my life complete,
He is a boy and Gaetan by name—
Gaetano, for a reason,—if the friar
Don Celestine will ask this grace for me
Of Curate Ottoboni: he it was
Baptized me: he remembers my whole life
As I do his grey hair.

All these few things
I know are true,—will you remember them?
Because time flies. The surgeon cared for me,
To count my wounds,—twenty-two dagger-wounds,
Five deadly, but I do not suffer much—
Or too much pain,—and am to die to-night.

Oh how good God is that my babe was born,
—Better than born, baptized and hid away
Before this happened, safe from being hurt!
That had been sin God could not well forgive:
He was too young to smile and save himself.
When they took two days after he was born,
My babe away from me to be baptized
And hidden awhile, for fear his foe should find,—

Thinkin Bout My Baby

I was walkin, down the street
I was lookin to someone who was standing there
And didnt seem to really care
I was lookin out the window
I was hopin, that the sun would show
Didnt know, didnt know
I was
Thinkin bout him, thinkin about my baby
Thinkin bout him, thinkin about my baby
Thinkin bout him, thinkin about my baby, yeah...
I was searchin, for a summer day
I was hopin, for someone to say
Would you come out?
Instead I stood and I pout
I was wanting, just another chance
To make you, feel my fine romance
Didnt know, want to go
I was
Thinkin bout him, thinkin about my baby
Thinkin bout him, thinkin about my baby
Thinkin bout him, thinkin about my baby,
Thinkin bout him, thinkin about my baby, yeah...
Want my baby, lookin for him high and the love, yeah
Want my baby, hes the only way to fly I know, yeah
I was searchin for another day
I was hopin, just to see your smilin face, your smilin face
I was
Thinkin bout him, thinkin about my baby
Thinkin bout him, thinkin about my baby
Thinkin bout him, thinkin about my baby
Thinkin bout him, thinkin about my baby, yeah, yeah...
Thinkin bout my baby, thinkin about my baby
Thinkin bout my baby, thinkin about my baby...

V. Count Guido Franceschini

Thanks, Sir, but, should it please the reverend Court,
I feel I can stand somehow, half sit down
Without help, make shift to even speak, you see,
Fortified by the sip of … why, 't is wine,
Velletri,—and not vinegar and gall,
So changed and good the times grow! Thanks, kind Sir!
Oh, but one sip's enough! I want my head
To save my neck, there's work awaits me still.
How cautious and considerate … aie, aie, aie,
Nor your fault, sweet Sir! Come, you take to heart
An ordinary matter. Law is law.
Noblemen were exempt, the vulgar thought,
From racking; but, since law thinks otherwise,
I have been put to the rack: all's over now,
And neither wrist—what men style, out of joint:
If any harm be, 't is the shoulder-blade,
The left one, that seems wrong i' the socket,—Sirs,
Much could not happen, I was quick to faint,
Being past my prime of life, and out of health.
In short, I thank you,—yes, and mean the word.
Needs must the Court be slow to understand
How this quite novel form of taking pain,
This getting tortured merely in the flesh,
Amounts to almost an agreeable change
In my case, me fastidious, plied too much
With opposite treatment, used (forgive the joke)
To the rasp-tooth toying with this brain of mine,
And, in and out my heart, the play o' the probe.
Four years have I been operated on
I' the soul, do you see—its tense or tremulous part—
My self-respect, my care for a good name,
Pride in an old one, love of kindred—just
A mother, brothers, sisters, and the like,
That looked up to my face when days were dim,
And fancied they found light there—no one spot,
Foppishly sensitive, but has paid its pang.
That, and not this you now oblige me with,
That was the Vigil-torment, if you please!
The poor old noble House that drew the rags
O' the Franceschini's once superb array
Close round her, hoped to slink unchallenged by,—
Pluck off these! Turn the drapery inside out
And teach the tittering town how scarlet wears!
Show men the lucklessness, the improvidence
Of the easy-natured Count before this Count,
The father I have some slight feeling for,
Who let the world slide, nor foresaw that friends
Then proud to cap and kiss their patron's shoe,
Would, when the purse he left held spider-webs,
Properly push his child to wall one day!

All I'm Thinkin' About

One, two, three, four
Blind man wavin' by the side of the road
In a flatbed Ford carryin' a heavy load
Sweet thing sipping on a blueberry wine
On a flat black highway down in Carolina
Black bird slipping in a sky of blue
All I'm thinkin' about is you, baby
All I'm thinkin' about is you, honey
All I'm thinkin' about is you, baby
All I'm thinkin' about is you
There ain't nothing in this world I can do about it
All I'm thinkin' about is you
Little boy carryin' a fishing pole
Little girl pickin' huckleberries from off of the vine
Brown bag filled with a little green toad
We hook him through the the lip and throw him off with a line
A sweet pair of legs got me feelin' so blue
And all I'm thinkin' about is you, baby
All I'm thinkin' about is you
All I'm thinkin' about is you, baby
All I'm thinkin' about is you
There ain't nothing in this world I can do about it
All I'm thinkin' about is you
Black car shiny on a Sunday morn'
Mama go to church now
Mama go to church now
Friday night and Daddy's shirt is torn
Daddy's going downtown
Daddy's going downtown
Ain't no one understand the sweet thing you do
All I'm thinkin' about is you, baby
All I'm thinkin' about is you
All I'm thinkin' about is you, baby
All I'm thinkin' about is you
Ain't nothing in this world I can do about it
All I'm thinkin' about is you
Whoaaa
Field turned up, the seed is sowed
Rain comin' in from over across the road
Big black curtain comin' across the field
Blind will see and lame will be healed
Brown-eyed girl, turn my back on you
Now it's lonely
All I'm thinkin' about is you, baby
And all I'm thinkin' about is you
And all I'm thinkin' about is you, baby
All I'm thinkin' about is you
There ain't nothing in this world take away these blues
All I'm thinkin' about is you
All I'm thinkin' about is you, baby

Love Calling

Sun goes down I rise
Red hair flames so bright
Iced gin breaks the night
Steal into her mind
Walk without a sound
Fire in the mountains now
If you wanna rub-a-dub, rub-a-dub
If you wanna rub-a-dub, dub love
Love calling, love calling
If you wanna rub-a-dub, rub-a-dub
If you wanna rub-a-dub, dub love
Love calling
So baby rock on
Clap hands, clap hands
For the song man
Rock on, rock on
Ooo baby rock on,
Clap hands, clap hands
For the song man
Rock on, rock on
Song man dreams for you
Moves his clapping space
Turns us into snakes
Hot hits
And the blue moon move, move, move
Move until we die
Move until she cries
If you wanna rub-a-dub, rub-a-dub
If you wanna rub-a-dub, dub love
Love calling, love calling
If you wanna rub-a-dub, rub-a-dub
If you wanna rub-a-dub, dub love
Love calling
Oo baby rock on
If you wanna rub-a-dub, rub-a-dub
If you wanna rub-a-dub, dub love
Love calling, love calling
If you wanna rub-a-dub, rub-a-dub
If you wanna rub-a-dub, dub love
Love calling
So[ooo? ] baby rock on
Clap hands, clap hands
For the song man
Rock on, rock on
Ooo baby rock on,
Clap hands, clap hands
For the song man
Rock on, rock on

The Loves of the Angels

'Twas when the world was in its prime,
When the fresh stars had just begun
Their race of glory and young Time
Told his first birth-days by the sun;
When in the light of Nature's dawn
Rejoicing, men and angels met
On the high hill and sunny lawn,-
Ere sorrow came or Sin had drawn
'Twixt man and heaven her curtain yet!
When earth lay nearer to the skies
Than in these days of crime and woe,
And mortals saw without surprise
In the mid-air angelic eyes
Gazing upon this world below.

Alas! that Passion should profane
Even then the morning of the earth!
That, sadder still, the fatal stain
Should fall on hearts of heavenly birth-
And that from Woman's love should fall
So dark a stain, most sad of all!

One evening, in that primal hour,
On a hill's side where hung the ray
Of sunset brightening rill and bower,
Three noble youths conversing lay;
And, as they lookt from time to time
To the far sky where Daylight furled
His radiant wing, their brows sublime
Bespoke them of that distant world-
Spirits who once in brotherhood
Of faith and bliss near ALLA stood,
And o'er whose cheeks full oft had blown
The wind that breathes from ALLA'S throne,
Creatures of light such as still play,
Like motes in sunshine, round the Lord,
And thro' their infinite array
Transmit each moment, night and day,
The echo of His luminous word!

Of Heaven they spoke and, still more oft,
Of the bright eyes that charmed them thence;
Till yielding gradual to the soft
And balmy evening's influence-
The silent breathing of the flowers-
The melting light that beamed above,
As on their first, fond, erring hours,-
Each told the story of his love,
The history of that hour unblest,
When like a bird from its high nest

Tamar

I
A night the half-moon was like a dancing-girl,
No, like a drunkard's last half-dollar
Shoved on the polished bar of the eastern hill-range,
Young Cauldwell rode his pony along the sea-cliff;
When she stopped, spurred; when she trembled, drove
The teeth of the little jagged wheels so deep
They tasted blood; the mare with four slim hooves
On a foot of ground pivoted like a top,
Jumped from the crumble of sod, went down, caught, slipped;
Then, the quick frenzy finished, stiffening herself
Slid with her drunken rider down the ledges,
Shot from sheer rock and broke
Her life out on the rounded tidal boulders.

The night you know accepted with no show of emotion the little
accident; grave Orion
Moved northwest from the naked shore, the moon moved to
meridian, the slow pulse of the ocean
Beat, the slow tide came in across the slippery stones; it drowned
the dead mare's muzzle and sluggishly
Felt for the rider; Cauldwell’s sleepy soul came back from the
blind course curious to know
What sea-cold fingers tapped the walls of its deserted ruin.
Pain, pain and faintness, crushing
Weights, and a vain desire to vomit, and soon again
die icy fingers, they had crept over the loose hand and lay in the
hair now. He rolled sidewise
Against mountains of weight and for another half-hour lay still.
With a gush of liquid noises
The wave covered him head and all, his body
Crawled without consciousness and like a creature with no bones,
a seaworm, lifted its face
Above the sea-wrack of a stone; then a white twilight grew about
the moon, and above
The ancient water, the everlasting repetition of the dawn. You
shipwrecked horseman
So many and still so many and now for you the last. But when it
grew daylight
He grew quite conscious; broken ends of bone ground on each
other among the working fibers
While by half-inches he was drawing himself out of the seawrack
up to sandy granite,
Out of the tide's path. Where the thin ledge tailed into flat cliff
he fell asleep. . . .
Far seaward
The daylight moon hung like a slip of cloud against the horizon.
The tide was ebbing
From the dead horse and the black belt of sea-growth. Cauldwell
seemed to have felt her crying beside him,

Don't Stop

Haha
Yeah
Are you ready to do this one
Alright then
Let's go
Wooooh
Ah come on
Ooooh yeah
(don't stop doin' that thing you do)
Oh, your sweet love is making me high, yeah yeah
(don't stop givin' me all your love)
I've been waiting for you all my life
Yes, you know i've been waiting
(don't stop, don't stop)
Doin' it (doin' it)
Don't stop doin' it baby
....
They feed me all of their lives, yeah
But i can't be messin' up, no
Gotta love, keep me satisfied
And baby what i see
Whenever i, look at you
Is all i ever wanted in this world
Nothing else is gonna do
Sing on
(don't stop doin' that thing you do)
Aah, your sweet love is making me high, heya heya
(don't stop givin' me all your love)
I've been waiting for you all my life
Come on and sing it
(don't stop) ooh (doin' it) oh
I said don't stop doin' it baby
Friends got you down
Oh, they say you must be a fool, no
But there ain't nothin', no no
That i wouldn't do for you
'cause i'm out here, always wrong
Every night and every day
And i'm asking just one thing
Don't you ever take your love away
(don't stop doin' that thing you do)
Aah, baby
Your sweet love is making me high
Come on, come on
(don't stop givin' me all your love)
I've been waiting for you all my life
All my life baby
(don't stop) come on sing yeah (doin' it)
Don't stop doin' it baby
Ah baby don't stop (don't stop) doin' it

Rose Mary

Of her two fights with the Beryl-stone
Lost the first, but the second won.

PART I

“MARY mine that art Mary's Rose
Come in to me from the garden-close.
The sun sinks fast with the rising dew,
And we marked not how the faint moon grew;
But the hidden stars are calling you.
“Tall Rose Mary, come to my side,
And read the stars if you'd be a bride.
In hours whose need was not your own,
While you were a young maid yet ungrown
You've read the stars in the Beryl-stone.
“Daughter, once more I bid you read;
But now let it be for your own need:
Because to-morrow, at break of day,
To Holy Cross he rides on his way,
Your knight Sir James of Heronhaye.
“Ere he wed you, flower of mine,
For a heavy shrift he seeks the shrine.
Now hark to my words and do not fear;
Ill news next I have for your ear;
But be you strong, and our help is here.
On his road, as the rumour's rife,
An ambush waits to take his life.
He needs will go, and will go alone;
Where the peril lurks may not be known;
But in this glass all things are shown.”
Pale Rose Mary sank to the floor:—
The night will come if the day is o'er!”
“Nay, heaven takes counsel, star with star,
And help shall reach your heart from afar:
A bride you'll be, as a maid you are.”
The lady unbound her jewelled zone
And drew from her robe the Beryl-stone.
Shaped it was to a shadowy sphere,—
World of our world, the sun's compeer,
That bears and buries the toiling year.
With shuddering light 'twas stirred and strewn
Like the cloud-nest of the wading moon:
Freaked it was as the bubble's ball,
Rainbow-hued through a misty pall
Like the middle light of the waterfall.
Shadows dwelt in its teeming girth
Of the known and unknown things of earth;
The cloud above and the wave around,—
The central fire at the sphere's heart bound,
Like doomsday prisoned underground.
