Intensity of Her Eyes
Hypnotic drinks
And spellbound until dawn,
I’ve seen cities linger
In a moonlight haze.
Yesterday,
I was preoccupied
With mythical dreams
And exaggerated concepts
Of romantic defeat.
I have no explanations
For vanishing friends
Or inconclusive rendezvous,
No explanations
For when life
Comes to an end.
Confirming her words
By the intensity of her eyes,
Remarkable conversations
Float through the ether of eternity.
I don’t avoid priests
But my confessions
Have been in darkness
And about darkness.
Most of my acquaintances
Have been nowhere people
Existing in the landscape
Of temporary purpose,
But our feelings have been
Mutual and meaningful.
I’ve practiced
Mindfulness in meditation,
I’ve recited prayers
Before the homeless
And the extravagantly rich,
And it is hard to say
If either were impressed.
I’ve had a fascination
With ancient philosophical codes,
I’ve journeyed the highway
Of directionless destiny,
I’ve told girls
I was in love,
But I often feel
