5. Push Biking
I remember red-hot summers
Went for bike rides near the Trent
I remember making bikes from bits
From mates of ours we’d lent
I remember big jam butties
We took with us and pop
I remember wonkey leather seats
No brakes to help us stop
I remember my mum saying
Make sure you take a coat
I remember swigging from the pop
And watching breadcrumbs float
I remember when we got there
On the Trent bank we would rest
I remember favourite sweet shops
Where the ice creams tasted best
I remember when we’d rested
Took our time no need to rush
I remember my last puncture
So I’d no choice but to push
