Butter Me Up
You speak candy and flowers,
Only,
Into my sweet craving ears,
Flattery,
Tickling and teasing my mind,
Tempting my smile.
Like drizzling frosting,
On sugary vanilla cake,
Enticing,
In summer heat,
Melting the senses.
Until you take a bite,
Attain your fix,
Satisfied,
Leaving me,
A filling less tart,
Empty and expecting.
I still pursue,
Your tongue,
The images it glazed me with,
But I have been soured,
A ripe fresh,
Lemon.
