Spring Break '99 Oceancity, MD

We were children
Watching
Children Kill.
Through the iridescent,
Miles away,
Their air ringing still-
Of bullets
And makeshift bombs
And unfathomable fear.
While a crisp Atlantic
Air
Tickled our necks, and
Our sunburnt thighs,
They were
Jumping from windows,
Looking for a safe place
To hide.
Wide eyed,
We were children
Watching
Children die.
