Aurobindo-22-Savitri-Book -2

An appreciation on Savitri-
Book II The Book of the Traveller of the Worlds
Canto III The Glory and the Fall of Life
Words within inverted commas are Aurobindo's

'There were realms where Knowledge joined creative Power
In her high home and made her all his own: '
'She gave to mind's calm pace the motor's speed,
To thinking a need to live what the soul saw,
To living an impetus to know and see.
His splendour grasped her, her puissance to him clung; '
That beauty of wisdom entangling her He
His wisdom of beauty in her ilk shaped up...

'A flaming thunder, a creator flash,
His victor Light rode on her deathless Force;
A centaur's mighty gallop bore the god.'
Proud should be of Hayagreeva or wisdom-God
Bharat borne upon a mighty spirit
'Life throned with mind, a double majesty.'

As you step in

As you step in the responsible zone
You feel they will wreck you like cyclone
There will be devastation and debris of all kind
Not a single living or bled of glass to find

Once life is accepted as challenge
Nothing seems unusual or strange
Everything moves on unexpected lines
You face the people in form of scoundrels, goons and swine

You show little slackness and they will pounce upon
They will have watchful eye and strict follow on
You are given no respite to regroup and offer reply
It is calculated move and clever employ

The life become holy crusade for survival
You are now fully in for its revival
You may leave no stone unturned
The desired goal has to be achieved and returned

A death not menace

You were business tycoons
Your empire was at the height shined in noon
It was associated with pride
It was open fact and was nothing to hide

As an individual you had thrown complete weight
You had lion’s share to take it to its height
Nobody could do it as you did
You had provided great impetus and lead

What else you needed in life at later stage
The years were passing off to touch the age
You did your level best to build the empire
No one could ignore you to admire

You were best as good administrator but no humanist
You did all to make it success and insisted
It was brilliant show put up ever by anybody
You were not careful for your existence and body

A love and affection

Love and affection has tremendous strength
Meet the target on same wave length
So much joy to lead or to be led
To achieve the goal and never feel sad

Millions have learnt and changed course
Any layman can learn and change concourse
Only one good impetus and see the result
Deep sorrow and downfall with only one insult

Love is not confined to physical relation
It is humanly behavior with good indication
It can alter the destiny of a person
It is backed by many examples and reasons

It has always influenced the mankind
It shown the way even to the blind
No one has dared to defy the true love
They have always gained when drove back

Come November

I grasped it with the start of some change
I don’ blame it entirely to the age
Whether you told me or not
The idea was severely fought

It was snow outside but needed warmth
I was worrying about the result aftermath
You stood there inviting me with grace
All reddishness rushed with freshness on face

It was long endurance and testing
Here you were there not resting
You could see only burning desire
I fully caved in to appreciate and admire

The feet were not developing cold
They were bracing for action very bold
The music was airing in with serpent’s charm
I felt it desirous and very warm

A peace offer

Nobody can offer you peace in mind
It is self contentment and nowhere can you find
It will come to you automatically
If you behave normally and very kindly

Peace can’t be had if we live under constant fear
Life can prove very cruel but everything you must bear
It may sometimes tear you apart and completely break down
You must take it lightly and never show any displeasure or frown

In this process nature is definitely with us all the way
You have to look around and little attention you must pay
Nature does not deviate from its course and behave normally
How can we act differently and behave abnormally?

Whenever you find that you are seized with lot of problems?
You must go to nature’s refuge and play the games
This may divert your attention and make you little comfortable
The problems can’t be solved by sitting merely on table

A pathetic condition

Unwillingly ushered in a house of unknown,
Saw a young lady keeping head almost down,
White complexioned girl with eyes dark brown,
almost frozen but expressions not made known

She may be widow and confined to house
She had small hole in house to live like mouse
This practice may be prevalent in many parts of the world
It is still prevalent and firmly holds

Women are kept in captivity and under strict vigil
It may be with a view to save them from devils
Still they are considered as easy object
It rules the mind and concerns the subject

Some of them are done away at the time of birth
They argue it is bad omen and there is no dearth
What can they do to help the elevation of status?
There is no progressive view to provide new impetus

The Bloke from Mullumbimby

You won’t know this fella, till I get on with me prose.
But I’ll tell ya this my friends, I think he’s one of those.

Now before you howl me down and question my social status.
My job here blokes is to tell a story, not just how johnfarls rates us.

They stuck him in the navy, he used to box for sport.
Adds were placed upon his soles you would see these adds quite often, with the gloves my friends he wasn’t good, he should have stuck to golfin.

Milkin cows he tried, roamin from wide and far, his hands will bear the evidence,5 thirty shows the scar.
He has a friend, and, boy is she a cutie, beats me folks how a bloke like him ends with such a beauty.

So that’s a little yarn about this bloke, and not much have you gleans. His place in life aren’t nothing much, that’s as a bloke I means.

But let me tell just how much he makes the AUSSIE bloke, yeah golf’s the go, he didn’t have a clue, played off 87, his goals were for the dough.

Well Bruce and me were average, Ross was good at golf, THE BLOKE had a problem though, his putting, well, was off.

His wallet bulged with ego and one day he laid the claim, you and Bruce and Ross and me will play the noble game.

How McDougal Topped The Score

A peaceful spot is Piper's Flat. The folk that live around -
They keep themselves by keeping sheep and turning up the ground;
But the climate is erratic, and the consequences are
The struggle with the elements is everlasting war.
We plough, and sow, and harrow - then sit down and pray for rain;
And then we get all flooded out and have to start again.
But the folk are now rejoicing as they ne'er rejoiced before,
For we've played Molongo cricket, and M'Dougal topped the score!

Molongo had a head on it, and challenged us to play
A single-innings match for lunch - the losing team to pay.
We were not great guns at cricket, but we couldn't well say, "No!"
So we all began to practise, and we let the reaping go.
We scoured the Flat for ten miles round to muster up our men,
But when the list was totalled we could only number ten.
Then up spoke big Tim Brady: he was always slow to speak,
And he said - "What price M'Dougal, who lives down at Cooper's Creek?"

So we sent for old M'Dougal, and he stated in reply
That he'd never played at cricket, but he'd half a mind to try.

Dante Alighieri

Paradiso: Canto I

The glory of Him who moveth everything
Doth penetrate the universe, and shine
In one part more and in another less.

Within that heaven which most his light receives
Was I, and things beheld which to repeat
Nor knows, nor can, who from above descends;

Because in drawing near to its desire
Our intellect ingulphs itself so far,
That after it the memory cannot go.

Truly whatever of the holy realm
I had the power to treasure in my mind
Shall now become the subject of my song.

O good Apollo, for this last emprise
Make of me such a vessel of thy power
As giving the beloved laurel asks!
