Hungry Angels

Tonight I will not sleep
I will call you in my eyes.

My hands were trembling
when I opened the book.
Words you uttered long back
tumbled out ashen-faced.
I started burning inside.

Where did we take a wrong turn?
The oven had baked a burnt-out
face. They are altering genes.
Suddenly it is going to start
a riot among the gods,
a pure kill.

Frightened I move in circles around
the little black hole in the center.
Martians would throw the boys
to appease the hungry angels.

The Watchman

Eyes locked, slowly we drift
knowing or not knowing;
A conversation dips in laxity.

The time stood around, eye-deep,
unbelieving steel, which had bent
forgetting the fortress of body.

A narcissus weeps without eyes
waiting for the evidence.
A raging moon will not come.

When nightingale stops singing
how will I find your home?
Far away half-naked sun was hiding.

Ungrateful century splits the human
species. Genes are jumping out.
The watchman had left the door.

For the one that I love

It’s your voice
that I hear in the evening-wind,
you become reality in my dreams,
bringing ecstasy to my soul and body

and you know me throughout,
even in the dark places
that I keep secret
there are times when I find you there

when you sometimes sneak past reason
into my blood, my genes and thoughts
becoming the source of all my longing,
with your smile, your voice, falling on me as sunshine

and there is meaning that I find with you,
something magical that binds us together.

Being Sassy is In My Genes

As a result of declaring,
My prerogative.
The knots and bruises,
Once appearing on my thick head.
Have cleared.

A reluctant introduction to patience,
Stood in my way.
And dared me to move.
I felt a wobbling in my legs.
And my feet froze too.

Blessed I was to have been made to listen.

That prerogative of mine,
With a braggadociousness.
In my mind I defined has gone.
And I'm glad it has.
But that sass I still have remains to alarm.
I was once told by my mom.

A Loving Woman

Love was in her genes; she couldn’t say no.
She was friendly to men who had crush on her.
She was free with men she was in love with.
She didn’t say no to men of rank and name.

She entertained men out of pity,
For their madness and for their servitude.
Causing pleasure in men was her pleasure-
A kind of sacrifice for sake of love.

It was not vice, nor lasciviousness.
It is like flowers emitting fragrance.
Relationships never spoilt her character.
She remained a good mother, unsoiled.

No individual soul

Which- the soul or body-
Is the cause of one
To be holy or lowly?
Which- the soul or the body-
Is the cause for the king
To down and the traitor to crown?
Which- the soul or the body-
Is the seat of genes
That transmits features?
Soul and body are co-born
Ever since when life was born.
At no stage, be birth, embryo,
Zygote or gametes that fuse,
Was the life born for the soul
To enter the body at birth,
And part at death.
Death is no more than
A death of a twig of the tree.

For Us With The Faded Genes

Are birthdays really happy
For us with the faded genes?
Calendars remind us daily-
Our time is short and lean.

The hair is losing color
While some may lose all of it,
Bones not strong as they were before
And sweets, we have to forfeit.

We learn to be keen on cholesterol
Be adept at counting blood sugar
Get rid of the fat, quit alcohol
We try walking, but can't go far.

We manage to deduct the years
As birthdays come to remind
We are getting plagued by aging fears
And Time we label... unkind.

I Am Not An Animal

I am not an animal
And I never was
Because from genes more noble
Came thus my human cause.

Beyond horizons finite
I soar eternal limits
To greater goals I set my sight
And success I will not forfeit.

Yes, all animals can be cruel
In many reasons, Man can be
But this one thing I can tell
Forgiveness in Man, is Reality.

The truths I have are logical
And from it I will not depart
Man is higher than animals
Because he has a bigger heart.

Fruit flies

Fruit flies made me realize the eyes I gazed into
The genes I wanted to fill made be blind and blond.
So then I sang a goofy song,
Perhaps one so full of the info
That it was the prostate of life that I did get into.
So..are they blue, green or dark brown.
Love those eyes that smiles and naught frowns.
Fruit of our life, a banana in the sun
Gives us a reason to break out those microscopes.
So please heed the class of 69...
Fruit flies ate our bananas
But we knew the the designer jeans they wore.
