Quotes about shined, page 12

A Rising Star

A rising star’s light has been distinguished in the heavens today. Twenty-seven years the light shined on the world. Two months you knew yet it could not be helped. A swift wind blew the light from your candle. No more its beauty will gleam amongst the heavenly bodies. So short-lived this soul gone but never will be forgotten. Taken from us this day on your journey to the ever after. You have gone to be with our ancestors. May they embrace you in their loving arms and welcome you.

Such a strange time to leave us but no one knows when they will be beckoned home. We have no choice but to answer the call. We wish her well and we shall meet again one day for energy cannot be destroyed.

We will remember your laughter and joy when we reminisce about the good times. We will miss you dearly. Our thoughts, our hearts, and prayers will be your parents. God bless you Enia Douglas Mellers. Farewell and peaceful journey to you. Rest in peace for you at God’s side now.

To my niece 1980 – 2007

A Memory Lives

These memories wander in my head

These tears of mine still lingers

Holding on to times once dear

A cloud looms high in this sky

Distasteful remedies make me cry

Unwanted discomforts hide my tries

Butterflies of sighs creeps heavily

To the stomach of unwanted good-byes

A dream, a fainted hope never to be seen again

Gone forever, rested in a sleep

Pretty Lil' Princess

A pretty little princess danced before my eyes
Soon we shared these loving longing sighs
Skin so fair i feared it would shatter
If my hand were to touch it with just a soft patter
Long silky black hair bright rosy cheeks
I drempt of her each night for weeks and weeks

Skin so fair, such ebony hair
I longed to see her pose so i could sit and stare
Rosy red rosy cheeks
I hear a symphony when she speaks
Golden smile of pearly white teeth
A blossoming bloom just out of reach

My heart to hold my soul to teach
A blossoming bloom is not out of reach
At last I have held her and she did not melt
At last she knows what passion i've felt

So many days her radiant beauty shined

Night Funeral in Harlem

Night funeral
In Harlem:

Where did they get
Them two fine cars?

Insurance man, he did not pay--
His insurance lapsed the other day--
Yet they got a satin box
for his head to lay.

Night funeral
In Harlem:

Who was it sent
That wreath of flowers?

Them flowers came
from that poor boy's friends--
They'll want flowers, too,

Disillusioned and Damned

That night
the joyful screaming,
we were yelling arbitrary questions to a greater power
that we do not believe in.
That night
I played you my favourite song
and imagined myself dancing through a field of daises
and I hoped that if you could see me there
among the flowers
you would finally think that I am beautiful.
That night
I broke your last cigarette in half
and your eyes were wild with fire,
you walked away and then came back.
That night
you asked me who I was
but I was too afraid to let you know.
That night
you cried because you realized how much you really loved me
and like a firefly you caught me in a mason jar

Child Of War

Child born under a red flag.
He gave up all he had.
For ultimate power.
For ultimate control.
For images that couldn't washed out of his head.
The blood ran as rivers of the dead flowed.
Bones littered the ground.
As a reminder of what he has done.
Even in the darkness the sun still shined.
Even upon all chaos some found peace.
A happiness was met on the horizon with grief.
Part of the daily living.
Hopefully soon all this would cease.
A testament to boy living in a war torn country.
He only understands one thing.
To survive you must kill.
To survive you must take.
All is yours if you want it is all he has ever known.
This is what we taught him.
Are we tell him that he must stop?

Ivory Spirals

Ivory spirals seem to cascade
Silent noise slowly consuming
Where the air cannot attain
Blanketed in cloying darkness
An ephemrea in every way imaginable
Novice wiseness considered anomalies
Consciousness evolves and adapts
Angst and naïveté obscure pure thought
For there are those who have yet to face true challenge
Torpidness devours those in impotent states
Emotions swirl for naught
Contingent upon a supply of that which has disspersed
Adapting to that which shrouded possibility
Shrewd constricting nothingness
Permeated in calming placidness
Hazy lethargecy sets in where sane thoughts dissapear
Light dims where it should have shined
Encumbered to find Truth
But in the end recovering only slivers
Of a monarchy that ruled all

Invocation

Through Thy clear spaces, Lord, of old,
Formless and void the dead earth rolled;
Deaf to Thy heaven's sweet music, blind
To the great lights which o'er it shined;
No sound, no ray, no warmth, no breath,--
A dumb despair, a wandering death.

To that dark, weltering horror came
Thy spirit, like a subtle flame,--
A breath of life electrical,
Awakening and transforming all,
Till beat and thrilled in every part
The pulses of a living heart.

Then knew their bounds the land and sea;
Then smiled the bloom of mead and tree;
From flower to moth, from beast to man,
The quick creative impulse ran;
And earth, with life from thee renewed,
Was in thy holy eyesight good.

Thomas Hardy

The Tenant-For-Life

The sun said, watching my watering-pot
   "Some morn you'll pass away;
These flowers and plants I parch up hot -
   Who'll water them that day?

"Those banks and beds whose shape your eye
Has planned in line so true,
New hands will change, unreasoning why
Such shape seemed best to you.

"Within your house will strangers sit,
   And wonder how first it came;
They'll talk of their schemes for improving it,
And will not mention your name.

"They'll care not how, or when, or at what
   You sighed, laughed, suffered here,
Though you feel more in an hour of the spot
Than they will feel in a year

First Date Tree Saeeded By Abdul Rahman The Firs

You are the apple of my eye,
My heart's delight:
I am remote from my valley,
To me you are the Burning Bush of Sinai!
You are a houri of the Arabian Desert,
Nursed by the Western breeze.
I feel homesick in exile,
You feel homesick in exile:

Prosper in this strange land!
May the morning dew quench your thirst!

The world presents a strange sight:
The vision's mantle is torn apart—
May valour struggle with the waves if it must,
The other side of the river is not to be seen!
Life owes itself to the heat of one's soul:
Flame does not rise from dust.
The Syrian evening's fallen star
Shined brighter in the exile's dawn.
