Ode to a Sandpiper

'Ode to a Sandpiper' by Dave Hart

Cognoscente of ocean
sand and waves

Peck-nibbling
your days

away

Spindly legs
ever in
prestissimo gait

Strafe the sand
in staccacto flecks

quaff an undulating
tide -
a delectable

What Mad Pursuit...

The face forever screaming, running forward
The mouth forever open always screaming,
The cardinal encased in his glass cupboard,
Forever trapped, forever haunts our dreaming.

LRH 5.20.06
Title from Ode on a Grecian Urn, John Keats
Paintings by Edvard Munch, Francis Bacon.

Haters

Ode to me haters,
every talk you make,
every breath you take,
even when you break,
ill take you to the lake,
and hit you with a rake,
after we get baked,
we will make a cake,
oh woe my heart akes,
give or take,
i wish you would appreciate,
these people be fake,
with every dime they make.

Glory In Stardust Love

ode to beauty in a love letter written in stardust boldly
the Glory of Love in a Letter of Love dancing in flame
chiselled into the bonfire of the World in endless mercy

Twilight Princess

Mute strains of light are fleeing.
Dream's kingdom's darkness flight.
The earth, the Heavens are kissing;
Lo, blooms the Omen Rose of Night.

Fair maiden of immortal hour,
Bleeding for a moment in the sky;
Forfeiting aura for Midnight's white flower.
Ode to the tragic Princess of Twilight.

Lines

Written in Ridicule of Certain Poems
{of Thomas Warton} Published in 1777.

Wheresoe'er I turn my view,
All is strange, yet nothing new;
Endless labour all along,
Endless labour to be wrong;
Phrase that time has flung away,
Uncouth words in disarray,
Trick'd in antique ruff and bonnet,
Ode, and elegy, and sonnet.

Down Falls The Tyrant

Worthy of a sonnet or an ode
don't you think? I asked
the worthy citizen in rags
pushing a grocery cart
brimming with trash
down the dirt road-
all concrete and asphalt
long gone in the aftermath
of a great catastrophe.

The citizen screwed up
rheumy-red eyes at me
grinning a toothless smile

'Have a taste, mate? '

Ode to Pencils

Pencil o pencil
What would i use to trace the stencil
Possibly crayon, marker, or a pen
Unfortunately they are back in the den
Could i use a pencil with color
They might be much taller
So thanks for the pencil to be born
It is easier to draw when there aren't torn
That is my ode
I hope you thought it flowed

Couple Sharing a Peach

It's not the first time
we've bitten into a peach.
But now at the same time
it splits--half for each.
Our "then" is inside its "now,"
its halved pit unfleshed--

what was refreshed.
Two happinesses unfold
from one joy, folioed.
In a hotel room
our moment lies
with its ode inside,
a red tinge,
with a hinge.

Ode to loves....

Every time I think about love, only loves, don’t know why…
Every time, looking at the guy who I like, want to talk but
my voice wont come out…
Looking at loves, don’t stop loving someone in their hearts.
Loves are anyway, no matter what …
My hearts want loves.
But I can’t fall in love…

Ode to loves…
