Quotes about strut, page 13
As Children Know
Elm branches radiate green heat,
blackbirds stiffly strut across fields.
Beneath bedroom wood floor, I feel earth—
bread in an oven that slowly swells,
simmering my Navajo blanket thread-crust
as white-feathered and corn-tasseled
Corn Dancers rise in a line, follow my calf,
vanish in a rumple and surface at my knee-cliff,
chanting. Wearing shagged buffalo headgear,
Buffalo Dancer chases Deer Woman across
Sleeping Leg mountain. Branches of wild rose
trees rattle seeds. Deer Woman fades into hills
of beige background. Red Bird
of my heart thrashes wildly after her.
What a stupid man I have been!
How good to let imagination go,
step over worrisome events,
those hacked logs
tumbled about
in the driveway.

True Johnny
Mary: Johnny, sweetheart, can you be true
To all those famous vows you've made?
Will you love me as I love you
Until we both in earth are laid?
Or shall the old wives nod and say
'His love was only for a day,
The mood goes by,
His fancies fly,
And Mary's left to sigh.'
Johnny: Mary, alas, you've hit the truth,
And I with grief can but admit
Hot-blooded haste controls my youth,
My idle fancies veer and flit
From flower to flower, from tree to tree,
And when the moment catches me
Oh, love goes by,
Away I fly,
And leave my girl to sigh.

Clotheslines dont do clothes
clothesline does
not do clothes
here is hung the fun
of the whole family
when heaven
affords a blessing,
a breeze -
the clothesline
opens the way
for the whole family
to strut, boggie
sister's lace shawl
goes up in a straight line
turns hand of wind
flutters up, down
a choreographer showing
the way to swing
with hands, legs

1. Clothesline
at the clothesline
is hung the fun
of the whole family
when heaven
affords a blessing -
a breeze -
the clothesline
leads the way
for the whole family
to strut, boggie
sister's lace shawl
goes up in a straight line
turns hand of wind
flutters up, down
a choreographer
pointing out
the way to swing
with hands, legs

Moments Of Love
the moments of love never grow old
that is something that i was shown.
like a child who receives that
first christmas gift
which was put on their list.
the joy, the excitement, the look in their eyes
makes you want to sit and cry.
they tear that package open to look inside
just like the first love, it can't be denied.
like a little girl with her first BARBIE doll
with all the clothes to match.
that glitter in her eyes
that you sometimes catch.
that little boy, with his first cap gun
running to hide and play in
the darkness of the house
or out in the sun.

Black and white
If you see things in black and white,
You should know that it is not right,
First check to see that it's not night,
Then begin to question your sight,
You may find that you're colour blind,
There's nothing else that comes to mind,
Lest the blight's of another kind,
Ask your doctor what he can find,
If it's lasting you should despair,
For you will find things hard to bear,
As you'll meet dangers everywhere,
While often resorting to prayer,
You may steal someone else's eyes,
But to me that is quite unwise,
If a doctor can't supervise,
To stop you ruining the prize.
Teach yourself that what you espy,
Does not mean what it may imply,
Don't believe what's in your mind's eye,
For there's a chance it is a lie,

Ballade Of A Great Weariness
There's little to have but the things I had,
There's little to bear but the things I bore.
There's nothing to carry and naught to add,
And glory to Heaven, I paid the score.
There's little to do but I did before,
There's little to learn but the things I know;
And this is the sum of a lasting lore:
Scratch a lover, and find a foe.
And couldn't it be I was young and mad
If ever my heart on my sleeve I wore?
There's many to claw at a heart unclad,
And little the wonder it ripped and tore.
There's one that'll join in their push and roar,
With stories to jabber, and stones to throw;
He'll fetch you a lesson that costs you sore:
Scratch a lover, and find a foe.
So little I'll offer to you, my lad;

In Need Of An Audience
The ones with egos,
Seem to always bring their mysteries...
To be addressed.
With a massaging done constantly.
While those with credentials,
Appear to have less to express.
Bearing nothing with them to appease,
Or tease anyone to impress.
The ego driven,
Seem to wish their interests known.
These folks no one can just walk pass.
As those of true accomplishment,
Deliver their deeds with a speed to be believed.
To leave those who strut,
With pomp vacant of circumstance.
And feeding on a need for attention shown.
Overblown, overstaged and miscast.

A Reason
Picture's of you in a evening gown
lost like a king without his crown
here I am, I abide
some day for you to be by my side
longing for your every touch
these feeling's so abrupt
there in your arms I would like to hide
lost only in your world forever
with dreams shared together
never to be absense
My heart so erupt
you took away every dejection
took me another direction
erased away every acrimony
that kept me so desolate
for you I would do the same
in this moment of essence
it just seems so decorous
in these times of despair

Shamshan Ghot
When the Sun hides countenance
Behind the black shawl,
All of sudden the city of night
Awakes with a poisonous turn,
It begins to glimmer like heavenly bodies,
And on the measured beats of drums,
And tinkles of anklets,
Begin to sway in the air, the tinted Anchals.
Geeta, Roshi, Amereeta, and Chanda dancers,
In the herd of obstinate jingles
Dance as step feet of a peacock,
On the tones Tha Tha, Thi Thi,
They strut, twist in pride,
And after showing,
The glimpse of heartiness,
Beautify and elegance,
Making the bodies bows and arrows,
And embellishing lips with fake smiles,
Dance amid the rain
