Quotes about chime, page 16

George Meredith

Continued

How smiles he at a generation ranked
In gloomy noddings over life! They pass.
Not he to feed upon a breast unthanked,
Or eye a beauteous face in a cracked glass.
But he can spy that little twist of brain
Which moved some weighty leader of the blind,
Unwitting 'twas the goad of personal pain,
To view in curst eclipse our Mother's mind,
And show us of some rigid harridan
The wretched bondmen till the end of time.
O lived the Master now to paint us Man,
That little twist of brain would ring a chime
Of whence it came and what it caused, to start
Thunders of laughter, clearing air and heart.

Remember! Remember! Remember!

As you look in the mirror remember;
Remember as clock bells chime.
Remember, remember, remember
You’re living on borrowed time.

From the future you borrow the present
With nothing but an I.O.U.
Remember there’ll be a payback
When all the presents come due.

So cherish all your loved ones.
Never forget to say,
“I love you, I need you, I want you
Each in your very own way.”

Gaze at the brilliant sun
Or marvel at each cloud formation.
Every fleeting moment enjoy
This wondrous, yet transient creation.

An_thology - Acrostic Sonnet

Adjoined is an anthology to bring
New enjoyment, world-view versed in rhyme,
Natural reflections over time
Engendered by a mind whose soul would sing
A word or two to string in golden ring
Necklace bound by no known chain, whose chime
Never fails to tune a bell sublime.
Emotions, shared, reverberate. Time’s swing
At last is counterbalanced, and its sting
No longer palls as phrases fuse and climb
Now past all past experience, masqued mime: -
Enchanted insight’s flight on poet’s wing!
Just twenty six the soldiers are whose line
Rekindles hope for scope, draws from each sign.

Wishing Well

Your smile
Blossoms like a flower
Capturing a second for one hour.
Then sprayed on the canvas of time
With the colours of verse and rhyme,
Painting the wind
That blew a soft chime
From a lonely bell.
Near a wishing well
To christen a love sublime.
Your kiss
The photosynthesis
To nurture such sweet bloom as this.
Soft tears of Heavens' fallen dew
Cling to leaf
To embrace anew
Our Eden
Under azure blue.
Where sunlight fell we won't forget
In shadow of a wishing well.

I Hear The Sound Of Time

Often at midnight I wake up,
I hear the sound of time.
It showers from eternity,
The Clock tells with its chime.

I find me in utter darkness,
As only waking man,
The cranky voice of a bird,
Reminds I have short span.

As a haunted person I brood,
Over the bygone days.
Is my life a story which ends,
Without its last pages?

From where we come, to where we go,
Unknown is that notion.
With the flow of time we will reach,
Perhaps a big Ocean.

Microcosmos

I am that fantasy which race has wrought
Of mundane chance-material. I am time
Paeaned by the senses five like bells that chime.

I am that cramped and crumbling house of clay
Where mansoul weaves the secret webs of thought.
Venturer--automaton--I cannot tell
What powers and instincts animate and betray
And do their dreamwork in me. Seed and star,
Sown by the wind, in spirit I am far
From self, the dull control with whom I dwell.

Also I am ancestral. Aeons ahead
And ages back, both son and sire I live
Mote-like between the unquickened and the dead--
From whom I take, and unto whom I give.

Nocturnal Vigils

Why do you chide me that, when mortals yield
To slumber's charm, from sleep I ask no boon,
But from my casement watch the maimëd moon
Fainting behind her ineffectual shield:
Unto the chime by stately planets pealed
My song, my soul, my very self attune,
And nightly see, what none can see at noon,
The runic volume of the sky unsealed?
Haply the hour may come when grateful Night
Will these brief vigils endlessly repay,
And, on the dwindling of my earthly day,
Keep, like her stars, my heavenly fancies bright;
And glorious dreamings, shrouded now from sight,
Dawn out of darkness, not to sleep for aye.

In Beechwood Cemetery

Here the dead sleep--the quiet dead. No sound
Disturbs them ever, and no storm dismays.
Winter mid snow caresses the tired ground,
And the wind roars about the woodland ways.
Springtime and summer and red autumn pass,
With leaf and bloom and pipe of wind and bird,
And the old earth puts forth her tender grass,
By them unfelt, unheeded and unheard.
Our centuries to them are but as strokes
In the dim gamut of some far-off chime.
Unaltering rest their perfect being cloaks--
A thing too vast to hear or feel or see--
Children of Silence and Eternity,
They know no season but the end of time.

Christmas Wishes

Here’s wishing you all a happy time,
On Jesus’ birth, let celebrations swing,
Hear all the bells begin to chime,
And listen with joy to the carolling.

Presents wrapped up and tied with bows,
Everyone is such a chosen gift.
Crackers filled with fun mottoes,
Giving every tired heart a lift.

Santa comes visiting on his sleigh,
Boys and girls, their presents bring.
And as on that Royal child’s birthday,
We send praises to the new born king.

Wishes too, for a good New Year.
Peace, love and happiness abound.
And for you and all those that you hold dear,
May God’s blessings always shine around.
