Spin Me Round
(ferry)
Now the ballrooms empty
Everybody I have known
Has been and gone
With the music over
Here am i
A shadow echoing on
Spin me round...
Now there must be something
In what they say of all things
Great and small
Theres dozen roses
Lying almost dying
To say all
Spin me round...
A nether world dancing toy
Im wired for sound
Does it matter to me
Who turns the key?
Now if life is for living

Toussaint L’Ouverture
'T WAS night. The tranquil moonlight smile
With which Heaven dreams of Earth, shed down
Its beauty on the Indian isle, —
On broad green field and white-walled town;
And inland waste of rock and wood,
In searching sunshine, wild and rude,
Rose, mellowed through the silver gleam,
Soft as the landscape of a dream.
All motionless and dewy wet,
Tree, vine, and flower in shadow met:
The myrtle with its snowy bloom,
Crossing the nightshade's solemn gloom, —
The white cecropia's silver rind
Relieved by deeper green behind,
The orange with its fruit of gold,
The lithe paullinia's verdant fold,
The passion-flower, with symbol holy,
Twining its tendrils long and lowly,
The rhexias dark, and cassia tall,
And proudly rising over all,

The Philanthropic Society
INSCRIBED TO THE DUKE OF LEEDS.
When Want, with wasted mien and haggard eye,
Retires in silence to her cell to die;
When o'er her child she hangs with speechless dread,
Faint and despairing of to-morrow's bread;
Who shall approach to bid the conflict cease,
And to her parting spirit whisper peace!
Who thee, poor infant, that with aspect bland
Dost stretch forth innocent thy helpless hand,
Shall pitying then protect, when thou art thrown
On the world's waste, unfriended and alone!
O hapless Infancy! if aught could move
The hardest heart to pity and to love
'Twere surely found in thee: dim passions mark
Stern manhood's brow, where age impresses dark
The stealing line of sorrow; but thine eye
Wears not distrust, or grief, or perfidy.
Though fortune's storms with dismal shadow lower,
Thy heart nor fears, nor feels the bitter shower;

Let George Do It
What's this fierce new change?
Has your juggernaut reached my door?
Am I out of range?
Think another thought before
Babies are ground up
In the last big round-up
Ease your head play it cool in a patio chair
Try to design a postcard from your mind
Piggy bank ooooo-whee
If it's Heaven-sent then you'll go far
Listen well to me
Smoke that 7 cent cigar
Can that rumble
And Avogadro's Number
[Chorus]
Polaroid galore
Snap my jelly roll
Count your change
For your midnight chore
Play that "sell-your-soul" exchange

Warm Tape
Shiver for me girl
Deliver for me my darling
Pushin' up to you
A river that runs right thru you
Swim for your smile
In a blue rock quarry
Make it for me baby
You won't be sorry
Shiver for my now
Deliver for me my darling
[Chorus:]
Miles and miles of nether worlds I roam
Settle for love you're never far from home
Carry me down into the waters of
Carry me down into the waters of love
Two of us were made of angels dust
I've been around
But not around enough

Into My Hypercube
In my backyard
Sounds turn around
Down fall apart
In my playground
In my dome on my own
A locked throught in a closet
Splinter moves, cracking moans
Dank angles in the attic
Sixth sense stockpiled
In the cellar
And the ladder is broken
Memories sleep in dust
This shelter is doubtful
Blind windows, flat eyes
Stitched tight into time
Til I rise unbound
Transient illusion
Clairvoyant suspension
Translucid condition
Principal connection

Habakkuk
Now leave the Porch, to vision now retreat,
Where the next rapture glows with varying heat;
Now change the time, and change the Temple scene,
The following Seer forewarns a future reign.
To some retirement, where the Prophets sons
Indulge their holy flight, my fancy runs,
Some sacred College built for praise and pray'r
And heav'nly dream, she seeks Habakkuk there.
Perhaps 'tis there he moans the nation's sin,
Hears the word come, or feels the fit within,
Or sees the vision fram'd with Angels hands,
And dreads the judgments of revolted lands,
Or holds a converse if the Lord appear,
And, like Elijah, wraps his face for fear.
This deep recess portends an act of weight,
A message lab'ring with the work of fate.
Methinks the Skies have lost their lovely blue,
A storm rides fiery, thick the clouds ensue.
Fall'n to the ground with prostrate face I lye,

A Reading Of Life--The Test Of Manhood
Like a flood river whirled at rocky banks,
An army issues out of wilderness,
With battle plucking round its ragged flanks;
Obstruction in the van; insane excess
Oft at the heart; yet hard the onward stress
Unto more spacious, where move ordered ranks,
And rise hushed temples built of shapely stone,
The work of hands not pledged to grind or slay.
They gave our earth a dress of flesh on bone;
A tongue to speak with answering heaven gave they.
Then was the gracious birth of man's new day;
Divided from the haunted night it shone.
That quiet dawn was Reverence; whereof sprang
Ethereal Beauty in full morningtide.
Another sun had risen to clasp his bride:
It was another earth unto him sang.
Came Reverence from the Huntress on her heights?
From the Persuader came it, in those vales

To Hope
OH come, thou power divine,
Thou lovely spirit with the wings of light,
And let thy dewy eyes
Shed their sweet influences on my soul;
Oh let me hear thy voice,
Whose sound thrills with a keener, deeper bliss,
Than the shrill jubilance the bird of joy
Pours on the air!
Or the child babblings of the gladsome rill
When, issuing first from out its mossy couch
In venturesome delight, it frisks in glee
Adown the hoary mountain, silver-fraught.
Oh come!
Where I do lie drenched in my bitter tears,
And drowning in dejection: haunted by
The pale gaunt fears that spectre-like rush forth
In shadowy swarms from out the brains's black cells,
Like glaring madmen in confusion 'scaped
From out their dens, whirling with shambling limbs
