Quotes about na'ale, page 18

Edgar Lee Masters

Jacob Godbey

How did you feel, you libertarians,
Who spent your talents rallying noble reasons
Around the saloon, as if Liberty
Was not to be found anywhere except at the bar
Or at a table, guzzling?
How did you feel, Ben Pantier, and the rest of you,
Who almost stoned me for a tyrant,
Garbed as a moralist,
And as a wry-faced ascetic frowning upon Yorkshire pudding,
Roast beef and ale and good will and rosy cheer --
Things you never saw in a grog-shop in your life?
How did you feel after I was dead and gone,
And your goddess, Liberty, unmasked as a strumpet,
Selling out the streets of Spoon River
To the insolent giants
Who manned the saloons from afar?
Did it occur to you that personal liberty
Is liberty of the mind,
Rather than of the belly?

Love Virus

Awakened by a gurgle of the stomach
Rumbling, Grumbling
Heavy regurgitation
Near the point of dehydration
Rocking back and forth
Waiting on the next episode
Constant pain and irritation
Sounds of thunder struck my chest
Weakened to the point of bed rest
Too sick to even get myself dressed
Feverish and nauseous
How long will this endure
Day after day, searching for a cure
Some type of antidote
Perhaps a glass of ginger ale or a hot toddy
A warm bath
Filled with lavender crystals to sooth my body
Tears flowing frequent, not one cloth to spare
No voices tended with a concerning care
Miserable and humiliated

Real-Estate

Real-Estate, real, estate, state, taste, east, eat, ale, tea, set, sale, sales, ate;
In the thirty-seventh year with your love,
And like your battle axe and your weapons of war!
But the horse and its rider are now killed with your bombs! !

Real-Estate, at, as, art, last, late, rate, rates, sea, sear, tear, tears, tale, tales;
And like the muse of love in the land of hatred!
But rise up to the challenges around you and be yourself;
For many wrs ar now waging on!

Real-Estate, ear, era, are, seat, lease, star, rat, tar, tease, salt, ease, sat, ears;
And like your love behind the works of war! !
But be very wise to move on peacefully with your mind;
For the real-estate business is like the muse of your love surrounded with troubles.

Middle-Aged

‘Tis but a vague, invarious delight
As gold that rains about some buried king.

As the fine flakes,
When tourists frolicking
Stamp on his roof or in the glazing light
Try photographs, wolf down their ale and cakes
And start to inspect some further pyramid;

As the fine dust, in the hid cell
Beneath their transitory step and merriment,
Drifts through the air, and the sarcophagus
Gains yet another crust
Of useless riches for the occupant,
So I, the fires that lit once dreams
Now over and spent,
Lie dead within four walls
And so now love
Rains down and so enriches some stiff case,
And strews a mind with precious metaphors,

Tarbolton Lasses, The

If ye gae up to yon hill-tap,
Ye'll there see bonie Peggy;
She kens her father is a laird,
And she forsooth's a leddy.

There Sophy tight, a lassie bright,
Besides a handsome fortune:
Wha canna win her in a night,
Has little art in courtin'.

Gae down by Faile, and taste the ale,
And tak a look o' Mysie;
She's dour and din, a deil within,
But aiblins she may please ye.

If she be shy, her sister try,
Ye'll maybe fancy Jenny;
If ye'll dispense wi' want o' sense-
She kens hersel she's bonie.

Valentina

Valentina, tin, tan, van, live, ale, vat, neat, Venn, Tina, Lena, eat!
And like the words of your sweet love,
But enter into the world so sweet with your lovely muse to teach me;
For, you are all that the muse of love brought to me this morning.

Valentina, vial, tail, vine, veil, tine, line, vale, tale, vent, nine, lava;
And like surfing the web!
But you can still keep in touch with your friends.

Valentina, lent, lean, let, tea, ate, Inn, net, ten, vet, ant, vile, Nina;
And like face-to-face conversation,
But do not let yourself to be conquered by evil.

The force of love and peace,
Read out those words that i penned to you and tell me your mind;
For you are rich in imagery and style! !
And i am impressed with the great skills of your muse.

Big Jack Loves His Food

Jack went to his doctors
he hadn't been for a year
twenty five stone he was
due to his love of chips and beer.
The doctor said he was now obese
and he would have to lose weight
Jack was told to eat more salads
and to stop drinking ale by the crate.
But Jack was now depressed
because he really loved his grub
his favourite meal was pie and chips
washed down with ten pints in the pub.
But he knew he was far too heavy
and the doctor was probably right
but he wanted one last big meal
down the pub that very night.
But alas Jack ate far too much
and couldn't stop filling his face
and after one pie too many
he exploded into outer space.

Jane

As Jane walked out below the hill,
She saw an old man standing still,
His eyes in tranced sorrow bound
On the broad stretch of barren ground.

His limbs were knarled like aged trees,
His thin beard wrapt about his knees,
His visage broad and parchment white,
Aglint with pale reflected light.

He seemed a creature fall'n afar
From some dim planet or faint star.
Jane scanned him very close, and soon
Cried, ''Tis the old man from the moon.'

He raised his voice, a grating creak,
But only to himself would speak.
Groaning with tears in piteous pain,
'O! O! would I were home again.'

Garfield

Garfield, dial, rail, grail, field, fed, lie, gale, fear, fail, failed, die!
Bare, dare;
Ware, are;
But, learning to become perfect in the land of your muse.

Garfield, Gad, if, far, era, deal, lead, rig, air, grade, raid, are, lied, dire!
Mare, fare;
Care, hare;
But, try to be with the laws and learn to become perfect in life.

Garfield, laid, fare, gal, fade, liar, rag, girl, Graf, ear, fair, dear, life!
Pare, rare;
Stare, tare;
And like the muse of peace in the land of your muse after the war.

Garfield, read, dare, drag, ride, aid, aide, gear, ale, file, filed, derail, fire!
But birds of the same feathers flock together;
However, you need to learn from your past mistakes to become perfect,
Because, everybody comes out with new things and new ideads on this earth.
