behind blind, defeated eyes

mired in mud, join in cacophony
heart hard, black and ugly
ignorant of the final irony

bathing in blood, exalt in battle
sword slaying enemies like cattle
never hearing your own death's rattle

Broken martyrs, burning homes;

Not singing angels, golden thrones.

In this unfinished poem
your empty stares
still lingers to pillage
every mellifluous words
and the superfluous revelries
malingered on its way
to be spewed and
to pierce the veil

they osculate to brew

All these bits and pieces
that have fallen in disrepair
as a broken heart unleashes
all the sadness and despair

upon the fartherest reaches

how completely it invades

The Day They Robbed Me Of My Life (In Answer To Don Mattera)

Black people have got power
in this government that rules,
to sing songs of hatred
like kill the Boer, kill the farmer,
kill the white man

and to sit back in comfortable chairs,
while pillage, rape, torture
and robberies takes place
and then when crime is out of control
to be about it totally amazed

Black people have got power
in this government that rules,
to destroy a lifetime’s career,
years of study at university,
years of experience
of doing a person’s utter best
in moments with affirmative action
and turning lives into nothing but dust.

of elixir dreamtime potion.
Absorbent sacred numbered ball spinning...
purchased from holy grail line magic machine;
state blueprint sly sucker pantomime taxation...
proliferating pie in sky get rich quick dreams.

Attendant shop priestesses
minimal menial minions pillage;
operating lotto outlet shrines
serve worshipers paying hopeless homage.
Apollo’s oracle precisely programmed
speaks chosen erratic prophesy package;
in electronic statistical lines formulated
randomly selected spun ball bondage.

The old moon is tarnished
With smoke of the flood,
The dead leaves are varnished
With colour like blood.

A treacherous smiler
With teeth white as milk,
A savage beguiler
In sheathings of silk
