Quotes about timetable, page 2

At a time when the insurgents are saying that time is working against them, my Democratic colleagues are introducing a measure to set a timetable for withdrawal in Iraq that will undercut the momentum that the insurgents themselves say we have built in Iraq.

Station Dog

The spirit of the place
lives inside the mangy body
of the station dog

doing penance for the last
three hundred years under
the tree of arrivals and departures

the dog opens his right eye
just long enough to look at and see
whether you're a man or a demigod

or the eight armed railway timetable come
to stroke him on the head
with a healing hand

and to take him to heaven
the dog decides
the day is not yet.

Travelogue

Keeping a fit timetable
Is an improbable countenance
For a guy, like me, who has
Been lost, and given up for lost,
In unforgiving desert mountains.

I once lived in an abandoned
Tungsten mine in the Hualapais,
My legs outstretched on the boss'
Desk. The difference was the
Dessicated peccary underneath:
A death-doll grin, gray-matted fur.

There was fresh water in the
Mineshaft, and one other man-
Or perhaps a Minotasur-
Dwelling within.
Either way, his breath stank,
Hanging on to the still, lightless air.

Fragile Timetable

I whisper dawn prayers
To gaze upon your face
In the summer moonlight,
I weep with the birds
Dreaming of your eyes,
I Find treasure in your voice
And God in your heart
But lack of comfort
In the world
When the days are ceaseless
Absent your presence.

We all exist
On a fragile timetable
With the hour unknown
When we return to the universe
Where we began
In a spiritual realm.

I hope for a long night

When Will You Come?

When will You come?
Will I be found, before my earthly life is done?
Will I experience Your Resurrection Power
and observe how sin You have conquered & devoured?

It’s a win-win scenario, for me, in any case –
As I long to see Your radiance, revealed at Heaven’s pace.
To enter Your gates with humble willingness
is real, knowing that I’m clothed by Your Righteousness.

When will You come?
Will I be found, before Death has finally succumbed?
According to Your timetable, which is not yet uncovered.
Thankfully, Your Grace I’ve discovered.

Oh my Lord, I’m standing in line -
To witness Your Return, within the span of Eternity’s time.

Martin Luther King

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Councilor or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to 'order' than to justice who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice who constantly says 'I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action' who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for someone else's freedom who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a 'more convenient season.'

Got A Timetable

know that i got a timetable,
i do not like a prolonged breathing
since the birth of the pink bud
i always love gasps
find thrill in grasps and quick finger holds
and soon releasing
nothing usurping nothing over holding on
to something
lest everything gets so old and familiar and
death boring
something is new in the newness of beginnings
nothing must last an hour longer

i am listening but not for long
there is no use for your argument
the pink bud blooms only for a very short day
the nights are longer
the years cannot convert themselves to bright days
there is no exchange
substitution is null and void

The Reality of Life

In my youth, my wings were strong and tireless
I could travel far and wide
I was uncontrollable and limitless
I ran with gazelles
I hung with monkeys from trees
I slept with wolfs
I lived every moment to its fullest
Nothing held me back
I had no timetable, no set schedule
I did whatever perked my interest
Rules were broken, laws were put to shame
The world was a puppet and I its puppeteer
My wings strong and tireless

But now I am old
I am caged in, ensnared, fixed to the system
I cannot travel past my set boundaries
I diligently follow law and order
Things must be done and planned accordingly
The world is a cold, unforgiving place and

An Unknown Force

I’m not sure what to believe.
Each people has its own.
I think there’s greater power
Than anyone has ever known.
Marvels from atom to universe
Manifest incredible design;
As sperm and egg have guidance
The instant they entwine.

Man calls it many things
Like Allah, Buddha and God.
It’s an unknown force
Which in a single nod
Could improve man’s lot,
Ceasing war, disease and strife.
Then would man have meaning
With no challenges in life?

This force has no timetable.
Past, present and future are one.
