Quotes about chide, page 3

I can; can you?

My parents- I can chide; can you?
My children- I can scold; can you?
My wife-I can rule; can you?
My religion- I can ride; can you?
When you do I become their part.

socialite clouds rest on the top
of Malindang Mountain
the common trees look at them
with envy
the grasses chide that there is no point to this
the clouds are meant to pass
the trees are meant to be cut and burned
and the grasses win.

How to Read Me

TO turn my volumes o’er nor find
(Sweet unsuspicious friend!)
Some vestige of an erring mind
To chide or discommend,

Believe that all were lov’d like you
With love from blame exempt,
Believe that all my griefs were true
And all my joys but dreamt.

A Mother's Chide

[INSPIRED POEM AFTER READING POET CATRINA HEARTS
CAUSE AND EFFECT]

where did the beauty go
oh mother
in thy face
to the poet in me
it was a solace

what is this wrath you show
oh mother
in your face
to the tiny man in me
it was a scare

mother nature
inspires
surprises..and
scars me too

My Heart Is Made Of Steel

the way the people around you
make you bleed
the way they laugh and chide you
the way they leave you helpless
in your sorrows
the way they survive on their own
proclaiming independence
from every man's concern
and the way i discern it
time and pain has made my heart
steel.
my gaze sharp as a knife
my hold as hard as pipe.

Service

Chide me not, darling, that I sing
Familiar thoughts and metres old:
Nay, do not scold
My spirit's childish uttering.

I know not why 't is that or this
I murmur to you thus or so:
Only I know
It throbs across my silences,

It blows over my heart,—a long
Infinite wind, again, again!
Again! and then
My life kneels down into a song.

Enemies Won't Match For Friendship

Even if the mahout uses the goad,
the elephant carries him and goes ahead;

Even if the mother beats her child for mischief,
the child crying 'Ammaa....' runs behind her with grief;

Even if you chide your friend for some mistake,
he won't do any furious harm and put you in stake;

Even if they live for quite long with you,
ENEMIES won't match for friendship with you!

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Sursum Corda

Seek not the Spirit, if it hide,
Inexorable to thy zeal:
Baby, do not whine and chide;
Art thou not also real?
Why should'st thou stoop to poor excuse?
Turn on the Accuser roundly; say,
"Here am I, here will I remain
Forever to myself soothfast,
Go thou, sweet Heaven, or, at thy pleasure stay."—
Already Heaven with thee its lot has cast,
For it only can absolutely deal.

We Give What We Have

Once a lazy drone
asked a wild flower
how it doles out
nectar to all...
foes or friends.

It tried to chide
the meek flower
in degrading tone
and bragged about
the feats of his own-

Regardless, who grabs,
a fallen wretch or a king
I spare not anyone but
give a venomous sting

Then calmly replied
the generous flower:
Friend! You are right!
