Quotes about purples, page 3

The War Of Colors Is Here Again

in my seven thousand islands
and some more
rising islands
the war of the colors have just
began and soon will end

there is the green of the
raw mango,
there is an orange of the
the sunset
there is the yellow of the sun
there are purples
and reds and whites

pearls and emeralds and rubies
multifaceted diamonds

soon this will be over
but i have a nice dream about the yellow sun
emerging

The Purple Hat Society

Do you look good in purple,
Do you dare wear it?
If you ask this question,
You are not ready for
The purple hat society.

Do you discard a shard
Or mock a crooked crock?
Do you see knaves
When looking at princes?
Then you are not ready for
The purple hat society.

Do you dot all your 'i's
And seal all ziploc bags?
Sorry, you won't
Make it with the purples.

Do you help support
The cosmetic industry

Driving while intoxicated (by Fall)

Driving while intoxicated
Drunk with the smells and sights
Of yellow Oak trees and red maple leaves
And golden harvest moon nights

Weaving my way through mind boggling colors
Each turn full of new delights
The reds and the purples of the maple surples
Bring inebriatation to new heights

This excess of pastels seen through my windshield
Makes me feel high as a kite
And in my rear-view mirror, more colors revealed
the frigging fall’s flashin’… of red and blue light

Scrawlin’ my name on a pink ticket pad
Crawlin’ into the backseat of a black and white
Busted from being intossicatated
And drivin’Under the infuluence… of Fall’s delight

American Prairie

10’ tall Big bluestem…
Once flourished there, now almost gone
Creamy yellow blossoms of Plains wild Indigo
White prairie Phlox and…
Bright yellow Prairie Ragwort
Tiny dark-blue Downy Gentian
Grasses fade from bluish purple
to copper-tan and wine-red.
Compass Plant leaves point only north and south
And it’s sap a natural chewing gum
Short grasses in the shadow…
of the Rocky Mountains
Tall wind shimmered grass
from Manitoba to Texas
Soil with the exotic name of Loess
Composed of glacial born rock dust
Leavened with wind borne debris.
Fields of ten foot tall Sun Flowers
Beauty and history… in land never tilled
Russets, …yellows… and purples

Where's The Silver?

Colors, colors everywhere
Colors all around

Reds and purples and blues are there
But silver can't be found

I look around, and now I've found some yellows and some greens
I look until my eyes are sore, but silver can't be seen

I look unto the vibrant clouds, but there's no silver lining
Where is all the silver that the miners should be mining?

There are no silver bells a'ringing
The silver songbirds are not singing
The orange sun hangs in the air, but I can't find silver anywhere

I look for hours, look for days, look for silver anyplace
But there always seems to be another color in it's place

I've given up this useless search

Wallace Stevens

The Man Whose Pharynx Was Bad

The time of year has grown indifferent.
Mildew of summer and the deepening snow
Are both alike in the routine I know:
I am too dumbly in my being pent.

The wind attendant on the solstices
Blows on the shutters of the metropoles,
Stirring no poet in his sleep, and tolls
The grand ideas of the villages.

The malady of the quotidian . . .
Perhaps if summer ever came to rest
And lengthened, deepened, comforted, caressed
Through days like oceans in obsidian

Horizons, full of night's midsummer blaze;
Perhaps, if winter once could penetrate
Through all its purples to the final slate,
Persisting bleakly in an icy haze;

Heaven as spectrum

Bold March sunlight bounces
off the yellow-grey-brown London claybricks
of the house across the gardens;

the next-door neighbour’s cut the dead ivy
and the reflected light hits the artificial flowers
and their strong delicate colours, glowing
in their various cobalt vases; blooming joyful
where living flowers find that corner sad;

the flowers as if washed today with brighter water-colours;
as if grace itself, wishing to send a message
to this room today, had chosen the spectrum
of the flowers’ purples, yellows, blues and reds
as its medium and message; and its smile;

today, the spectrum is for me
metaphor enough – its rainbow limits
playing now-you-see-me… with the retina,
hinting at the formless always beckoning

Monolith

I stand out on the red ochre plain,
Well removed from city suburban train.
I stand where few pale humans appear,
Where water imperative as the sun does sear.

I give comforting shelter a gecko frantic,
As he runs from crevasse to crevasse manic.
A ragged shrub lives within my cracks,
And tourist climb with sun on their backs.

Daylight appears I am black against the sun,
At midday find me brightest red blazon.
Middy afternoon I wear another cloak,
And a ruby mood with hazed lightening smoke.

Evening comes and I'm many shades,
Blues and purples in many grades.
As sun finally sets and I return to black,
While the locals sleep into starlight night I retreat.

Now You Begin To See The Colors Of My Painting In Words

sadness is painted in some words
that go like a monologue
stuttering at times like one grasping
for breath and yet
still wanting to say more,

you know at first glance
seeing some syllables
about what i feel.......today, the anger that gropes
for words

explosives and
screaming soul while the storms rage on the corner
of the shores

then you ask, needlessly, the words speak for themselves
how is it here

they picture my jagged jaw, my eyes that shout
and curse

Be Sure To Eat At The Feast

She sat down to feast
at Life's Table
polishing stars
for the summer night;
drinking flower-petal nectar
from hollow vessels
made of moon-beams
and candle light.

She made angel cake
from pixie dust,
angel breath
and laughter steams
warmed in sun-ovens
splayed across the sky
for the Star-Children to eat.

Her main course
was Laughter Pie
