Quotes about opine, page 4

Thomas Hardy

A Week

On Monday night I closed my door,
And thought you were not as heretofore,
And little cared if we met no more.

I seemed on Tuesday night to trace
Something beyond mere commonplace
In your ideas, and heart, and face.

On Wednesday I did not opine
Your life would ever be one with mine,
Though if it were we should well combine.

On Thursday noon I liked you well,
And fondly felt that we must dwell
Not far apart, whatever befell.

I Promise You (Trijan Refrain)

Oh love of mine, Oh love of mine,
Come to me in this day,
I'll save you from this world's opine
These judgements I will slay.
I'll hold you in my arms so tight
And shield our love with all my might...
I promise you
I promise you
Oh love of mine, I'll always fight.

Oh love of mine, Oh love of mine,
I'll always keep you warm,
Through thick and thin, it will be fine
I'll shield you from the storm.
Through all the battles and the wars
No matter their rank or their scores...
I promise you
I promise you
To keep love strong, what's mine and yours.

To Mine Heart's Captor

To mine heart's captor: thou knowest who for art thou!
With its absquatulation complete, what art thine plans now?
Art thine intentions altruistic and pure-
May thine jollity, these intentions, ensure?
Might thine heart be exalted in consort with mine?
If thee were to seek its consult, how would it opine?
Love knows not impediments, it lasts and grows forever;
Come with me, my beloved, we shall live this truth, together!

Have not thee thought of me, fondly, in mine absence?
The gift of our love is proof of His Divine Benevolence!
Walk this journey called life with me by thine side;
Mine unceasing love shall always, and e'er, be supplied-
For so long as thou art enamored by this offer;
First though, you need remove thine heart from its coffer!

No More A Place In My Mind, As Before, For You!

Father, though not with us, causal are you to much of my pain!
Naught would I not do though still to see you once again!
Opine would I to you as to why you chose your path-
Many different choices, many different ways the world hath!

In many ways were you my hero- in many ways my opposite:
Why and how could you live with yourself, I would posit!
Happy Birthday to you Father- perhaps best that you're gone-
Allowance made it is for less anger- after your dawn!

I've met someone Father, who I believed only to be a fantasy-
She falsely believed I was as you- though a tremendous falsity!
Amazing though she certainly is- very much too, fragile-
Make well again her heart and mind- mine own domicile!

My Father, once my hero, I bid you now adieu!
No more a place in my mind, as before, for you!

Time to Be Wise

YES; I write verses now and then,
But blunt and flaccid is my pen,
No longer talk’d of by young men
As rather clever;
In the last quarter are my eyes,
You see it by their form and size;
Is it not time then to be wise?
Or now or never.

Fairest that ever sprang from Eve!
While Time allows the short reprieve,
Just look at me! would you believe
’T was once a lover?
I cannot clear the five-bar gate;
But, trying first its timber’s state,
Climb stiffly up, take breath, and wait
To trundle over.

Through gallopade I cannot swing
The entangling blooms of Beauty’s spring:

Two Shows

The showman (blessing in a thousand shapes!)
Parades a 'School of Educated Apes!'
Small education's needed, I opine,
Or native wit, to make a monkey shine;
The brute exhibited has naught to do
But ape the larger apes who come to view
The hoodlum with his horrible grimace,
Long upper lip and furtive, shuffling pace,
Significant reminders of the time
When hunters, not policemen, made him climb;
The lady loafer with her draggling 'trail,'
That free translation of an ancient tail;
The sand-lot quadrumane in hairy suit,
Whose heels are thumbs perverted by the boot;
The painted actress throwing down the gage
To elder artists of the sylvan stage,
Proving that in the time of Noah's flood
Two ape-skins held her whole profession's blood;
The critic waiting, like a hungry pup,
To write the school-perhaps to eat it-up,

In My Womb

I had whole world in my womb
Happiness, worry, uncertainty all working like bomb
May soon explode to scatter the life's ambition
To put before the world my beautiful child for exhibition

I am breeding lovely and divine part
I shall hold it till the life lasts
Not to share it with any one
Except me and I alone

Oh what is this noise around me?
Why am I undergoing pain to feel free?
The new born is hitting me from inside
Just sliding down to come hastily and stay with my side

I loose control over self and go in silence
The baby has alighted in world and shown the presence
I have been informed of her arrival
With blood on body and spread over all

O Lemme Go, My Time Has Come!

O lemme go, my time has come!
I smell death somewhere lurking near;
With weakened frame, I must welcome,
My end of earthly stay, sans fear!

O lemme go, my time has come!
My pain and suff'rings may now cease;
My job on earth is done/ half-done;
So, let me breathe my last in peace!

O lemme go, my time has come!
I tried to do the best I could;
I hear my Saviour's clarion call;
So, let me leave this world for good!

O lemme go, my time has come!
The Lord awaits with open arms;
The narrow road, I always trod;
So, let my body go to worms!

Aurobindo 60 Savitri Book 3

An appreciation on Savitri-
Book 3-The Book of the Divine Mother
Canto Two: The Adoration of the Divine Mother
Words within inverted commas are Aurobindo's

'The Formless and the Formed were joined in her: '
'At the head she stands of birth and toil and fate,
In their slow round the cycles turn to her call; '
'She is the golden bridge, the wonderful fire.
The luminous heart of the Unknown is she,
A power of silence in the depths of God; '
'She is the Force' fierce and tranquil in every make
And 'The magnet of our difficult ascent, '..

'All Nature dumbly calls to her alone
To heal with her feet the aching throb of life
And break the seals on the dim soul of man
And kindle her fire in the closed heart of things.'
A sparkiling seed sown to first yell ma...in nature
'All here shall be one day her sweetness' home,

Aurobindo 132 Savitri Book 9

'As thoughts stand mute on a despairing verge
Where the last depths plunge into nothingness
And the last dreams must end, they paused; '
'The Woman first affronted the Abyss
Daring to journey through the eternal Night.
Armoured with light she advanced her foot to plunge
Into the dread and hueless vacancy; '
On par with Savitri's beautiful venture Thou words...

'A mystery of terror's boundlessness,
Gathering its hungry strength the huge pitiless void
Surrounded slowly with its soundless depths,
And monstrous, cavernous, a shapeless throat
Devoured her into its shadowy strangling mass,
The fierce spiritual agony of a dream.'
'A curtain of impenetrable dread,
The darkness hung around her cage of sense'

'As disappears a golden lamp in gloom
Borne into distance from the eyes' desire,
