Woman: the peg on which the wit hangs his jest, the preacher his text, the cynic his grouch and the sinner his justification.

You start chasing a ball and your brain immediately commands your body to 'Run forward, bend, scoop up the ball, peg it to the infield,' then your body says, 'Who me?'

You know, it was a small, independent movie and with Paramount becoming involved, it was obviously a good thing, but you can't put a round peg in a square hole.

Alcohol
At one peg of drink,
The fatigue is shed,
At two, shame is shut,
At three, stress is out.
And still more,
Your name is lost.
Is the drink much bad?

Solitary...
you fit in
you don't
square peg in
a round hole you are
you try again
they all rebel
you junk them
they laugh
in your island
you are king
in that crowd
there is no peace
why
bother?

A Man Young And Old: X. His Wildness
O bid me mount and sail up there
Amid the cloudy wrack,
For peg and Meg and Paris' love
That had so straight a back,
Are gone away, and some that stay
Have changed their silk for sack.
Were I but there and none to hear
I'd have a peacock cry,
For that is natural to a man
That lives in memory,
Being all alone I'd nurse a stone
And sing it lullaby.

And Never Must We Ask Our Beloved
and so never shall we ask our beloved
why she must deserve this love from
my heart why she must know any reason
why she must be loved and why she must
also love in return. There are no justifications
for loving. Just the feeling that someone fits
in there like peg to a hole like air to space
like stars in the galaxy like you and me.
that will be enough.

Gotcha
Winter’s not yet here so they’re still around
We long for the snow that would send them to ground
If your leg was a peg, you’d be half ok
Just hope they want the right one on that day
You know they’ve found you when you hear that buzzing sound
You could be skinny, or fat and round
As they tuck into that blood so rich
You know you’ve been had when it begins to itch.

Leaving the Long Ago Gone
Woke up uncertain...this morning
in everything
Was high without trying
stacking round peg
stacking square
going nowhere...
Drove to work but I wasn't there
tried to be myself
even if it's someone
I don't like
Caught enough recollections
to recall
just enough to get by
just enough to pass...bye
Went to bed uncertain this eve...
want to say in everything...
but I'm not certain.

all That Fancy Food
'ALL THAT FANCY FOOD'
After all that fancy food at Christmas in the past,
Turkey stuffing Xmas pud things that do not last
Full brekkies in the morning, snacks again at noon
Eating and drinking all day long until we see the moon
Now really what I fancy now festive time is gone,
Is plain food so English to peg me back to norm
Good old Egg and chips will get me back to form.
