Quotes about himalayas, page 5

Dead March

Under the bunker, where the reek of kerosene
Prepared the marriage rite, leader and whore,
Imperfect kindling even in this wind, burn on.

Someone in uniform hums Brahms. Servants prepare
Eyewitness stories as the night comes down, as smoking coals await
Boots on the stone, the occupying troops. Howl ministers.

Deep in Kyffhauser Mountain's underground,
The Holy Roman Emperor snores on, in sleep enduring
Seven centuries. His long red beard

Grows through the table to the floor. He moves a little.
Far in the labyrinth, low thunder rumbles and dies out.
Twitch and lie still. Is Hitler now in the Himalayas?

We are in Cleveland, or Sioux Falls. The architecture
Seems like Omaha, the air pumped in from Düsseldorf.
Cold rain keeps dripping just outside the bars. The testicles

28 Wind Poems

Wind chimes play not on time... but when the Spirit moves.

The South Wind has for the evening donned jasmine scent*
*
The wind weaves many white caps so quickly for the blue sea
*
Mother Wind moves the water rocker
to and fro on the stormy sound's deeps. On the boatcradle by lapping
waves she is softly lulled to sleep.
*
Will, your winded wings will win.
*
Clouds' whitewaterweave covered the sky.. and yet
everywhere there was a patch of blue.. it was a different
hue... here aqua.. there cerulean... or teal or indigo
*
The east wind blowing westward marries the falling rain
turning her attention elsewhere
*
Crosswinds quilt the Connecticut River ever so slightly

The Beautiful Romantic Space

Her heart is a beautiful romantic space
Her friendship is a divine love- message;

Is unforgettable flow of ecstasy
And invitation with bliss-giving beauty;

Is pleasant like simple and plain expression
Is tasty like creamy curd;

Shares companionship and makes mind serene
Lovingly caresses that sweet romantic space;

Such cooling is not available
In Ooty, Kodaikanal or Darjeling

Even doing penance in Himalayas
One can not attain such loving place;

The love and care of my beloved
Are natural flows

Exile

These hills are sandy. Trees are dwarfed here. Crows
Caw dismally in skies of an arid brilliance,
Complain in dusty pine-trees. Yellow daybreak
Lights on the long brown slopes a frost-like dew,
Dew as heavy as rain; the rabbit tracks
Show sharply in it, as they might in snow.
But it’s soon gone in the sun — what good does it do?
The houses, on the slope, or among brown trees,
Are grey and shrivelled. And the men who live here
Are small and withered, spider-like, with large eyes.

Bring water with you if you come to live here —
Cold tinkling cisterns, or else wells so deep
That one looks down to Ganges or Himalayas.
Yes, and bring mountains with you, white, moon-bearing,
Mountains of ice. You will have need of these
Profundities and peaks of wet and cold.

Bring also, in a cage of wire or osier,
Birds of a golden colour, who will sing

O’ You My Luminescent Lips

O’ YOU MY LUMINISCNT LIPS
esspeecee …15.06.09.

With your swinging lips
Together will go for
Virgin dating
In hanging garden of Babylon.

With your nimble lips
Together will go for
Topsy-turvy rafting
In river Amazon.

With you ‘bee-stung’ bold lips
Together will go for
Enjoying redness
In setting sun on ocean.

With your pale lips
Together will go for

From My Yellowed Pages

LOVE

People’s heart do you repair
And make two a pair
Chasing the mind’s stink
Through the heart’s sink
Ignorant thou art
Make us feel
Everything is for us
And forever:
The moon and the moonlight
Churning oceans and streams of light
You hold no grudge
Nor wish vengeance
You tune mirthful melody
In the hearts of melancholy
You laden the sorrow of heart
You make a heaven on earth
(written on 11.11.71, the first documented poem of mine)

Though we smiled together not known each other?

*In Buddhism, at the moment of death the consciousness (consciousness of the different senses, such as eye consciousness, ear consciousness etc.) , acts as the seed for the spawning of the new consciousness in a new biological structure, conducive to the volitional (Saṅ khā ras) impulses at the moment of death (which are themselves affected by previous volitional impulses) . In other Indian religions, the volitional impulses accrued from the present life are transmitted to a consciousness structure popularly known as the soul, which, after an intermediate period (in Tibetan called the bardo) , forms the basis for a new biological structure that will result in rebirth and a new life. This cyclical process ends in the attainment of moksha. If one lives in extremely evil ways, one may be reborn as an animal or other unfortunate being. In a modern vernacular context, particularly in the Himalayas, samsara is a also word used to describe the how life is full of attachments and comings-and-goings, a subtle state of suffering. For example, when saying goodbye to a loved one, one might utter, 'ah... samsara.'

I step-up from my halcyon cottage
At 11: 15 PM as usual for my graveyard shift
And I am a cashier there counting others money!
I go via Disneyland and my humble
Toyota Camry take me safely.
I stopped at the pedestrian crossing
in front of the Paradise!
A girl of six or seven approximately
piggyback on her father merrily,
And she smiled with me happily
Like a Mickey Mouse.
She waved when the green light flashes
I too responded her in the same polite manner!
And on my way to the convenient store
I dragged the remembrance what the Buddha said;
'Habits of *Samsara.'
[Along this unending cycle of births & deaths every individual carry the good and bad habits.]

Hail to you!

Victory to you, O Most Auspicious One, O Abode of Sublimity and Eternal Delight! O Goddess of Freedom, O Triumphant One, We salute you!
O Embodiment of our National Life-Force, O Goddess of Freedom, Of Virtue and Prosperity Supreme Queen you are!
In this darkness of Slavery, O Goddess of Freedom, Alone gleaming in the sky A bright and Shining Star you are! O Goddess of Freedom, You are the blush that prospers, On cheeks as soft as flowers, On flowers as soft as cheeks! You are the Radiance of the Sun, the Depth of the Ocean, O Goddess of Freedom, Without you their worth is naught!
You are the Liberation from the Cycle of Birth and Death, O Goddess of Freedom, hailed as the Supreme Soul By the Yogis of the Vedas you are! All that is most supreme and noble, So very magnificent and oh, so very sweet, O Goddess of Freedom, All your companions are!
Soaked in the villain's blood-You are! Worshipped by noble men-You are! O Goddess of Freedom, The entire Creation surrenders unto you! Life is to die for You, Death is to live without You, O Giver of Boons, We await the time when you shall Clasp Our Motherland to your bosom! O Goddess of Freedom, O Triumphant One, We salute you!
Even Lord Shankar covets Our Himalayas, The Mighty Mountains of Terraced Snow, O, why does it not please you to sport here? Why O, why do you forsake the bountiful Ganga? Her stream, glowing like the moonshine, Is not it a worthy mirror for even the Apsaras?
O Freedom! What did you lack in this Golden Land? Is there not a fresh Kohinoor bloom for your braid each day? Here is The Bounteous One, Our very own Motherland, Why O, why did you push her away? O, why did your Motherly love of old wither away? O, so anguished is my soul! For she is now but a slave to others, Why O, why did you abandon her so, Answer me, I pray! O Goddess of Freedom, O Triumphant One, We salute you!

0006 Saraswati

The name means
wisdom. Perhaps
we should leave it there. For
the human mind loves
to bring the heavenly
down to earth; then bury it:

maybe not wisdom, did they say –
who worships wisdom in these foolish days?
Maybe a goddess then?
We’ll name our greatest river
after her; that will help men
to remember wisdom
which flows from heaven
to the tops of the unreachable snowed
Himalayas, flows down and nourishes
the earth that nourishes the seeds
that yield the plants
that bring life to men
who meet together on her banks
