Quotes about snakes, page 5
A Political Theory
the way you manage things
pertains to an ordinary garden
weeding out the bad ones
cultivating the ideals
the snakes are caught and
cut to pieces
and the rats poisoned
and the trees pruned
the paths cleaned of rocks
and pebbles
you level mountains
desiring the plains
and the neighborhood claps
their hand and shall make
new monuments for you
there are words of praises
but not from me
for in my garden
the snakes thrive with the rats

Thunder At Night
Restless and hot two children lay
Plagued with uneasy dreams,
Each wandered lonely through false day
A twilight torn with screams.
True to the bed-time story, Ben
Pursued his wounded bear,
Ann dreamed of chattering monkey men,
Of snakes twined in her hair...
Now high aloft above the town
The thick clouds gather and break,
A flash, a roar, and rain drives down:
Aghast the young things wake.
Trembling for what their terror was,
Surprised by instant doom,
With lightning in the looking glass,
Thunder that rocks the room.

City of Jazz (in defiance of Katrina AKA the Beast)
In the land of Blues
There once came a beast
A wild, uncaring, disparaging scourge
She tore through the soul of city of gold
She drove every household to the cold
Then came the tears
All night and all day
Flooding the streets and swelling the blue bay
Then came the snakes
Both men and green
They lashed at the people with tainted white teeth.
But the land was strong
Full of ole passion and pride
And the city of golden jazz would not give up without a fight
The struggle was hard
And the people were weary
Together the music lifted thier sad souls
The more they sang the stronger they played
And the people drove the beast, the tears, and the snakes away
After they were gone

Three green snakes
I was gathering dead branches
and rotting leaves
and mowed down grass
and with my bare hands,
scooped it up
into a wheelbarrow.
From there I carted
it away to where,
a trailer attached
to my car waited.
The leaves and grass
felt humid and hot
in my hands
and a compost smell
hang in the air,
but suddenly three
deadly green snakes twisted
out where my hands

Summer’s Dance (Pantoum)
Summer rainbow's ribbon still stretches in the blue rain
As green snakes dance to the tune of charmer’s jazz flutes
Blue butterflies chase velvety bumblebees singing duets in vain
Summer laughs around red velvety roses and green fruits
As green snakes dance to the tune of charmer’s jazz flutes
Summer's ends her path over meadow, with a dream of green
Summer laughs around red velvety roses and green fruits
Moon shines behind the barrier of cloud's fence, as a queen.
Summer's ends her path over meadow, with a dream of green
Into the autumn's sky with puffs of cotton clouds and floating light
Moon shines behind the barrier of cloud's fence, as a queen.
With dancing, green shadows sprites appear all round the sight.
Into the autumn's sky with puffs of cotton clouds and floating light
Blue butterflies chase velvety bumblebees singing duets in vain
With dancing, green shadows sprites appear all round the sight.
Summer rainbow's ribbon still stretches in the blue rain.

The River Flows
The river flows quiet and swift
It twists and turns as the waters drift
It branches and breaks—its fingers entwine
It grows and grows—snakes like a vine.
The river with the soft scent of a calm day
With the smell of clean—hanging—still—in the grey
And sweetness carried on the breath of morning
It caresses the river—the waters flowing.
The river—crystalline from winter melt
And sweet with the summer soon felt
It tastes of springtime—the season between
And flows the river—so blue and clean.
The river—its lazy trickle of water
The musical rhythm—the ocean’s daughter
It whispers and murmurs—a song of its own
Playing over and over—in continuous drone.

Poetry in Me.........
Oh poetry my friend inside, dormant thoughts lie,
Anger writes the feelings in the speed of thought,
I swing the axe to split the block of inspiration
Mind Pictures in my words sleeping under dreams.
Happiness and sadness hold hands in the whirlpool of words
Metaphor movies flicker in my brain,
Venting feelings to flow from my pen,
Celestial images punctuated live as
Syllables jostle for rhythm’s flow.
Oh poetry my friend inside, dormant thoughts lie,
I find comfort deep within as we write together
With your silent guide my friend,
In the cutting room snakes strangle the ‘odd’ word
Oh poetry my friend inside, dormant thoughts lie,
I find comfort deep within as we write together
With your silent guide my friend,
In the cutting room snakes strangle the ‘odd’ word
Then wonders mark unfolds, originality leaps forth.
My eyes close feeling tired the hour is late

Coal Black Night
Lighthouse lit amidst the clouds
Waves of ominous soul quell
Ships as abstract as ether
No stars shine on hell
Universe of lust
Lost in feasts of sumptuous gold
Draconian masters of pleasure
Tonight no blue flowers rise
Do you believe in possession?
Ghosts in closets
Dark tiers of sullen forces
Anger as deep as snakes
Sleep in the tangled bedrooms
Suicide amidst your fornication
Tired of love
Tired of righteous pursuit
Champaign glasses of dark crystal
Lavish red carpets

Being Gotten In
Harvard was founded in 1636,
And Yale was founded in 1701;
But like the Cherokees of the Americans with the autumn flowers,
My mind is now made up like the Aztecs of Mexico.
Along the shores of Cape Cold Bay in my love,
With wild fruits of nuts like the winter berries;
But to be on board with the May Flower,
And like James Town on the James River.
Give me an axe to chop down a wood in the forest,
For i am now setting my feet on a dry land;
With the hissing of snakes around me,
For the rivers of the flooding waters are now seen ahead of me.
Oh life!
Baldness has come upon Gaza;
And of lives decorated with anutmn flowers,
For i am now being gotten in! !

Snakes! Snakes!
Though it was a nightmare, yet very close to reality,
It is too hard to decide,
Make difference what the world was,
Where I was placed.
A patch was no more than an acre but full of snakes,
They sit coiled very close to one another,
Those which crawled, crawled with slow move.
They were of many colours, form and shapes;
Some were gold shining and some dark green,
Some were glassy transparent,
Trailed their bodies behind their thick necks,
Lashed flexibly if made of ploythene.
I had hardly a spot to place my feet,
At each step I was stung with deadly fangs,
At the bitten spots I felt the trouble as someone,
Placed the burning coals;
And in the veins my blood ran,
As boiled water runs in the tubes.
