Quotes about flag, page 52
For a Flower
I would sleep
with rattlesnakes,
And I would bake
A million cakes,
Carry a camel
On my back,
With a U.S. flag
March through Iraq,
If I lived
Trade my last breath,
Trade it for
A single flower,
One whose petals
Have strange power,
And I would steal
A TV station,
Just to tell
The whole damn nation,
About this flower
Yes, it's true,

I Am Not A Poet 2
When I feel I am really a poet
I see my flesh is poetry
My pleasure is poetry
My pains are poetry
My feelings are poetry.
Poetry protects me
Poetry teaches me
How to fight back and win.
Poetry is my freedom
Poetry is my independence
Poetry is my flag
And an anthem
Poetry is my prophet
And a messanger.
But I am not a poet
Do not read me
Burn me into ashes

Tumbler Of Glass
Take it my daughter
this tumbler of glass
fill it with the flame from the hearth
close to your being
in a tight clasp
Keep my daughter
this tumbler of glass
Even if its glow, tenderly
seeps out
let no one ever know what it was
the glass must'nt crack
your gait mustn't flag
filled to the brim
don't let it overflow
don't let your thirst
spill across
Take it my daughter
this tumbler of glass

Young Soldier
The young soldier's gone
Forever lost
To a mother's kiss
And sibling's playful taunt.
He held the line
Stood fast without retreat
Controlled the fear
And faced the enemy.
When they heard
In the town where he was born
They lined the streets
As his hearse was driven bye.
With heads bowed they wept
For a young soldier
Who for flag and country
Fell into the eternal arms of Glory.

Good Citizen
Red, white, and blue are the colors that represent our flag.
People honor our country by saying the pledge.
As time goes by, laws change and taxes get higher.
We start to get mad and frustrated at the government as bills pile up and our money starts going.
We try to hang in there and help America out by voting.
For we are good citizens even when the country doesn't always treat us like one.

America911
Stars and stripes wave in the breeze
Hailing boundless opportunites.
This flag bespeaks our sacred land
Where all are free to understand
That freedom each and every day
Is bought by many who still pay
With lives, tears, sweat and toil
So we can enjoy this hallowed soil.
Since freedom's not free, we must strive
To keep our liberty alive.
Though unsure times, it's surely clear
America won't ever yield to fear.

Inner Meanings
INNER MEANINGS
Refined the mind which seeks to find
inner meanings for the world,
open links as, onwards whirled,
fresh horizons unconfined
are rediscovered. Truth behind
all veils is, like a flag unfurled,
experience intense. Uncurled,
self finds self, Way redefined,
on track for metamorphosis
conjugating “hope” and “is”...

Marching Troops
Exert distance and take gigantic steps,
With pity the wicked shall make steps:
Who shall win and adjourn?
Who will carry the flag of victory?
A race is won on the steps taken,
And innocence must win again.
Soldiers who do hear the request of their generals,
Will face death when the dying occurs,
No soldier or troop or cavalier is exempt - they grind.
Who shall gain their victory?
You know and you know.

Assassin
Moving through dark
shadowy trees,
slumped center-frame,
he walked awkwardly,
mumbling
his mad invective,
ineffective rage until
reaching the flag
he vaporized
into anger’s
flame.
That was his manifesto
video
you-tubed
cabled
into my reluctant eyes.
But I cannot turn away.

We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.
Winston Churchill in speech (4 June 1940)
