Quotes about dimes, page 6

Mini Kingdoms Within a State That Bragged

Reality comes to hit hard,
Munipalities.
Treated and acting as if,
Mini kingdoms within a state that bragged...
About an affluence,
Long ago lived...
In a 'we are the richest' state there is.
From a past wished now to continue.

A collective mindset does not exist.
Cities allowed homelessness and hunger,
To persist on the backs of low paid wagers.
The 'haves' have always accused the 'have nots'...
Of being shiftless and lazy.
When jobs from them were taken and not given.
As those who were rich,
Separated themselves in suburban divisions.

Now they find dimes to spend are few.
Minds invested in their futures...

Has It Been Depleted?

You are upset with me,
Because I have created my own success...
With sacrifice and patience.
In a place you told me I invited my own defeat.

And you have a Master's Degree in Business Finance.
With nothing to show for it,
But foreclosed and repossessed possessions.
Sometimes you don't eat?
Geeessshhh.

And your degree is packed away in storage.
While today you find yourself standing,
In an unemployment line.
Why are you upset with me?
Aren't you following your dreams?
What in your mind are you trying to define?

I can only say I have been blessed.
And kept my faith devoted.

My Sister Sense Affection

My sister is someone...
who sense affection for me from her heart
No matter how much you argue you cannot be drawn apart
She is a joy that cannot be taken away
Once she penetrate your life, she is there to reside
She is my guiding star and an angel that what make me feel whole.

A friend who helps you through difficult times
Her encouraging words are value much more than dimes.
A partner who fills your life with giggle and grin
These memories last for eternally and everlastingly

When she is by my side, the world is overflowing with life
When she is not around, my days are full of dissension
A sister is a blessing, who seal your heart with love
She flies with me in life like the beauty of a dove

With a sister I cannot have a bitterness
she is as sweet as chocolate
And as soft as sponge cake

What corruption means

digging at the same spot
first to lay pipes
then to lay wires
leaving mud, gravel
all over the street

spending a week
to process an application
instead of an hour
hoping that some dimes
would roll over to oil his needs

building a public place
- to make sure they
last only months
so that there would
be a redo
more projects more money

spending RM90 million

My Father

was a truly amazing man
he pretended to be
rich
even though we lived on beans and mush and weenies
when we sat down to eat, he said,
"not everybody can eat like this."

and because he wanted to be rich or because he actually
thought he was rich
he always voted Republican
and he voted for Hoover against Roosevelt
and he lost
and then he voted for Alf Landon against Roosevelt
and he lost again
saying, "I don't know what this world is coming to,
now we've got that god damned Red in there again
and the Russians will be in our backyard next!"

I think it was my father who made me decide to
become a bum.

My Sweet Red Roses

O my Sweet Red Roses,
For ages I've been searching looking
For my sweet red roses,
Hopping round like a Kangaroo
Hoping to fall in love
With my sweet red roses.

As I firmly
Hold My Sweet Red Roses
Nearest Dearest to my heart
Like Christ born on Christmas Day
Lying in a manger
With eyes wide shut,
Her face incomparable to entire nature.
And as I closely
Hold my sweet red roses,
To myself,
Her wanderlust of holiness
Fills me up
Ushers me to her depth,

Pity Makes Those Visits

Everyday you have to pray,
If you want a life to be lived right.
Everyday.

And everyday you have to do it in a way,
To make those loose ends tight.
Without a struggle or fight.

You want a life that's easy pleasing.
Without discipline or meaning.
Without work or sweat involved.
With your troubles quickly solved.

You wish your dreams to come alive.
While you sit and analyze...
Why others seem to have such luck!
And all you have is whining time.
With pity making visits in your mind.
That's all you want,
There to fine.

Just Thinking About Walt Whitman

In the lunch hour alleys of the city,
We ate our Mexican food with the mild sauce,
Not wanting to raise the heat of our conversations;
Our plans were a rock concert at a small venue
Where the pretty but slightly plump girls scream
Drunken love to the lead singer,
And the tall man with the fresh tan
Hangs out in the back aisle scoping out the chicks;
And a few people begin to dance with missile-happy,
Excited legs spraying all over the place,
And I just want everyone to be joyful
Without punk rocking the scene with any consonantal violence,
And I always want to dig the waitress passing out the beers,
She tends to have cute, short black hair and some hip tattoo;
If I’m already sober, she will give me a free coffee
And I’ll sit in a dimly-lit back corner all lonely
And try to write a melancholy poem about her eyes;
If I’m slightly inebriated, she’ll smile and get an easy tip
And then tell me to behave myself;
Someone will bring pizza and get all-tomato stained

My President Will Defeat Your Candidate

My President will defeat your candidate
In November.
Remember
That I told you so; I can't wait for that date.

My President is fair, competent and has common sense
My President is realistic, just and is full of intelligence.
As a matter of facts, he has destroyed many bad seeds.
He is a well disciplined man who keeps his word.
He loves the people who face the quotidian sword.
In spite of the down turn, he practices sound economic policies,
However, it is a continued gamble when dealing
With unpredictable indicators. It is like going
To the casinos of Las Vegas or to the shores of Atlantic City;
Such is the market, such is the greedy economy.
Sometimes, you win and most of the times
You lose real dollars and myriad of dimes.
At times you also lose your soul and your spleen.
The government is a facilitator; it does not create jobs,
Only the private sector can genuinely create jobs.
