Quotes about graven, page 6
The Latest Decalogue
Thou shalt have one God only; who
Would be at the expense of two?
No graven images may be
Worshipp'd, except the currency:
Swear not at all; for, for thy curse
Thine enemy is none the worse:
At church on Sunday to attend
Will serve to keep the world thy friend:
Honour thy parents; that is, all
From whom advancement may befall:
Thou shalt not kill; but need'st not strive
Officiously to keep alive:
Do not adultery commit;
Advantage rarely comes of it:
Thou shalt not steal; an empty feat,
When it's so lucrative to cheat:
Bear not false witness; let the lie
Have time on its own wings to fly:
Thou shalt not covet; but tradition
Approves all forms of competition.

Dream Walking
When I can feel the texture
of the scent of roses…
Sense the velvet caress
Of the fog’s vaporous touch
Feel the sonorous
voice of Elvis
the velvet-like timbre
That I loved so much
When I can feel the warmth
From brown eyes that look into mine
And hear unspoken whispers…
And taste unsipped wine
When I can talk to the raven
And he… speak to me…
His words will be graven
In my heart… eternally

Unremebering dream
Welcome ingrate malignancy into the cruel world
For silent words inside the frozen mouth to keep,
Unsearchable ideas to be used like a sword,
For sending meaningless reveries in our anxious sleep.
Your palaces of suffering, crowning the head of woe,
With sightless, hopeless human beings in icy, rayless lands,
Your dark, where the flowers and green grass cannot grow,
And people duty is to demand and receive your commands.
Inglorious, your never coming spring, your valley glittering in cold,
Your values, gorged in somberness, waiting to be destroyed,
And proud, a close friend of you, graven image of gold,
Will be your sad reality, when He will come and He will be annoyed.

Honest Thoughts
where do we go from here?
our lives controlled by mechanical arms,
that oppress and drive without conscience.
we've been fed for years on a steady diet
of lies, of half truths, of illusions.
and now the walls of the false kingdom
have come tumbling down...
we have been driven by fear to participate
in their unholy wars... by misguided images
of patriotism... by a graven image of what's
right and wring...
and we're not buying it anymore!
the American dream has crumbled... we're
jobless, homeless, desperate, and hungry!
maybe that's what it took to open our eyes!
they've taken away our hope of a future...

Kinsman
Where ceaseless Spring her garland twines,
As sweetly shall the loved one rest,
As if beneath the whispering pines
And maple shadows of the West.
Ye mourn, O hearts of home! for him,
But, haply, mourn ye not alone;
For him shall far-off eyes be dim,
And pity speak in tongues unknown.
There needs no graven line to give
The story of his blameless youth;
All hearts shall throb intuitive,
And nature guess the simple truth.
The very meaning of his name
Shall many a tender tribute win;
The stranger own his sacred claim,
And all the world shall be his kin.

Today... 'The Great High Priest
Without beginning and without end
Jesus is the poor Sinners best Friend.
From the order of Melchizedek He came
to die for my sins and to bear my shame.
Now back to the heaven He has gone
to intercede there for everyone.
My name is graven upon His hands
and He has fulfilled the laws demands.
Jesus Christ the Son of God Most High
Intercedes for me so I won't die
Before the throne He cries 'Father forgive'
and He gave His life that I might live.
This great King of kings and Prince of Peace
is none other than my Great High Priest.
Praise God that He is my Saviour too
and can do that which no one else can do.

Of Tomorrow (Waiting? ?)
'Antiscipation' isn't that a Carly Simon song?
It needs to resolve itself into an answer... 'NOW'...
And as surely as it comes around......
'Tomorrow' 'twil hide 'neath a: 'Broken Bough';
From a barren-half-broken down Oak Tree-
Somewhat ravaged by the ICE-chill of 'Fall' air......
It hides 'Tomorrow' from 'Todays' 'Glaring Vulture Eyes'-
They're waiting, they're waiting: 'on things that they think:
'Death Might Share'............

I Pray For Darkness...
i pray for darkness...
wrapping splintered lights
in perfected stillness...
stillness that heals
without questioning
why or who!
stillness that sings,
with every pulse of blood
through bodies worn...
stillness that redeems,
bringing the searcher
to his final destination...
stillness that removes,
the cross, , the crown of thorns,
lays down the shield of honor...

To Helene
I sent a ring—a little band
Of emerald and ruby stone,
And bade it, sparkling on thy hand,
Tell thee sweet tales of one
Whose constant memory
Was full of loveliness, and thee.
A shell was graven on its gold,—
'Twas Cupid fix'd without his wings—
To Helene once it would have told
More than was ever told by rings:
But now all 's past and gone,
Her love is buried with that stone.
Thou shalt not see the tears that start
From eyes by thoughts like these beguiled;
Thou shalt not know the beating heart,
Ever a victim and a child:
Yet Helene, love, believe
The heart that never could deceive.

Unto Us...
Somewhere at some time
They committed themselves to me
And so, I was!
Small, but I WAS!
Tiny, in shape
Lusting to live
I hung in my pulsing cave.
Soon they knew of me
My mother --my father.
I had no say in my being
I lived on trust
And love
Tho' I couldn't think
Each part of me was saying
A silent 'Wait for me
I will bring you love!'
I was taken
Blind, naked, defenseless
By the hand of one
Whose good name
