Quotes about searing, page 8
My Idea Of A Good Day
There will be no sleep
The pains of hunger
The searing burn of thirst
Discomfort
But not discontentment
A feeling of loneliness amongst the overwhelming presence
A feeling of depression amidst the joy
A feeling of chaos amidst the peace
A feeling of confusion amidst the wisdom
A feeling of dejection amidst the love
There will be success
The delights of a feast
The coolness of an iced drink
Contentment
Complacency
A feeling of completion amidst inner brokenness
A feeling of happiness amidst inner death
A feeling of peacefulness amidst inner turmoil
A feeling of wisdom amidst inner misunderstanding

Coffee Courage
The bitter coffee kicked;
I shook and then I licked
My lips and gave a sigh.
Shattered eyes encouraged,
I nearly had envisaged
Waking up an eye.
Another sip; a jolt –
Not unlike a bolt
Of wattage from the mains.
My sockets under strain,
I tried it once again:
Aha! The light, the searing white –
My God, the bloody pain!

Do You Really Know War?
Do you know
What it's like over there?
First there's the searing heat
And the blinding sand winds blow,
Your cracked lips cry
For water...from where it comes
You don't know.
Do you know what it's
Really, really like?
To not have a few hours sleep?
To keep your mind and ears
Awake till your focus, you can't keep?
Do you know how it is
To hear cries of pain
To the sounds of consuming explosions
The deafening terrors
Can make anyone insane
Unable to take such inhuman condition?

Wash
Spun out of control.
Bobbing then pommeled, squashed then bloated.
A lone occupant within the confines of a tumble dryer
at full spin....
An impatient hand lifts the lid off
with deft, well practised fingers
hopeful that in so doing would speed up the process.
The spinning abruptly stops
resuming only when the lid is firmly shut
securely in place.
With a banging and a rattling
the tumbling ensues... digits lifting
assured the interruption overrided.
The mind opens to the fact that
there is one entry and one exit
on this front loader churning
Its machinations moistens the
dank air and frigid tiles with

Where My Princess Awaits
Breathless
I run through the trees.
That grab the night,
Drink the light.
Into a clearing.
Moonlight searing.
With its blue torches.
Scorches of romance.
Like pendants of love.
From above.
My heart guides me
To ebony gates.
Into an open field
Where my Princess awaits,
With welcoming arms.
And smiles revealed in starlit eyes.
Goodbye
To all goodbyes.

Chrysalis
Incongruous creeper of star crossed fate
Muted dreamer with a living to tolerate
Swanking too compensate the lack of luster
A sycophantic wish delivering a note of disaster
As you regress inexorably to a cringe of pity
A cocoon not of metamorphosis but of mediocrity
Hoisted in the blind relishing promise
A delirium of emancipation from apathetic premise
Quelling identity to bargain sympathy
A herald of toppling chance of divinity
You opt for opulent wings, lavish and capturing
Denied amplification with no point of returning
A fancy to take flight but no intention to soar
Mindlessly hoping to turn at the count of four
Blanched with profound searing undraping
Swathed with hope for brand new wings
A failure to acquaint the puissant enemy
Eternally ensnared in a cosset of turgidity.

Vicissitude III: Summer
The uncouth sun barks
A blaring fiendish cry of war
Slavering like a mad dog
And it thawed into the tarmac
Gnawing the concrete to scintillate
A fervent fire in the gouts
Casting a lofty mirage
Of his esoteric trance
And I quelled the sun
With my own febrile tongue
Amidst the agog flame dance—
A farce chain of rings
For it sequester not concatenates—
I sat in bleak and cold asunder
Breathing in the summer haze,
Eating the marring flames,
To feed my arduous fire
That summer tries to halt
Fire versus fire; a firebreak for abeyance

Grey, Grey Sky
Someday I will ride the great bird
Into the sky, into the grey
And will take a bright secret of mine
Into the grey, grey sky.
And the light will come, piercing my eyes
Out of the sky, out of the grey
Come blinding and searing these eyes
Out of the grey, grey sky.
And I will find comfort in this
In the wide sky, in the wide grey
In the painful dark brightness of light
Light of the grey, grey sky.
My secret will fly away home
Into the sky, into the grey
And the great bird will follow it there
Into the grey, grey sky.

Thoughts in a Far Country
I rise and applaud, in the patriot manner,
Whenever (as often) I hear
The palpitanat strains of "The Star Spangled Banner,"--
I shout and cheer.
And also, to show my unbound devotion,
I jump to my feet with a "Whee!"
Whenever "Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean"
Is played near me.
My fervour's so hot and my ardour so searing--
I'm hoarse for a couple of days--
You've heard me, I'm positive, joyously cheering
"The Marsailles"
I holler for "Dixie." I go off my noodle,
I whistle, I pound, and I stamp
Whenever an orchestra plays "Yankee Doodle,"
Or "Tramp, Tramp, Tramp."

Grey Train
This Sunday she'll come
To see me again.
And we will kiss
Then talk about
That and this.
And laugh into each others eyes.
Embrace in lovers sighs.
I'll make her lunch.
I have a hunch
She will be the one.
As I hold her hand in the sun.
And on Monday
She takes the grey train.
And cries as she leaves me again.
Next Sunday she'll come to see me once more.
I'll carry her bags to my door.
And dance her across my floor.
But
My heart now trembles
