Why Talk About War To An Anti War One Like Me
Why talk about war to an anti war one like me
Since you know with what you say of it I won't agree
Since talking of military matters I'd rather decline
And your sort of heroes will never be mine
Your points about war to me you've already made
Though I won't march with you in the war parade
With you the like minded will stand at your side
Whilst you wave the flag with great fervour and pride
'Tis good in a way we see things differently
If we all thought in the same way how boring we'd be
Waving our National flags as we walk up and down
To the beat of the war drums through the streets of the town
You do love the National flag but so too do I
But for the flag I would not shoot to kill or die.

Nostalgic thoughts at a Sunset
When Sun goes down
I see a faraway building top
Someone brings the National flag lower.
Like the flag post
Alone, I think of my Motherland.
And it's really morning there now.
Somebody must hoist our National flag
in the President's house while he sleeps?
People rush to struggle with life
As the cost of living goes so high.
And I think of my friendly brother Lalith
Who taught me to read and write
And lot of things of the mysterious life?
My two sisters and their families
Few sincere relatives too haunt.
When we see each other again?
I take my handkerchief out
from my tiny pocket and wipe my wet eyes,
Wave and I mutter to that sailing ship bounds East?
'Please convey my loving regards to them.'

Rally Around Our Flag
Rally Around Our Flag
(A sonnet from SevenSixFourSeven)
Somewhere around the world when peace hangs by a thread
America’s young men and women gallantly respond
To restore that which everyone will need,
Freedom and harmony to deserving humankind.
To the Flag, they rallied to answer a call freely
Personal needs aside to strengthen what is wanting
That a real peril is threatening man’s liberty
So sacrifices are made where change is demanding.
These young men and women who made no concessions
Are asking for no more than your eyes and hearts
To let them know that you, too, are in conciliation
For their sacrifices made bolstering freedom’s straits.
Many from SevenSixFourSeven rose and responded
To a bugle’s call around the Flag where they proudly stood.

The Patriotic Bathing Suit
The Patriotic Bathing Suit
Silently the door clicks
All heads turn in anticipation
She's out for the pool
No need for any imagination
That gorgious body was poured into that flag
All men' s eyes were trained on that suit
She then saunters to the awaiting deck
Will today be the day she gets it wet?
The men sighed:
' God Bless America '
That American flag never fit so well
It certainly made all the men' s pride swell
And their hearts would skip a beat
Looking at that red and white seat
And the men thanked
'' God for America '

On The Flag Of The Southern Cross
On the flagpost in the freshening winds the flag of the Southern Cross
That brave workers once fought under does flap and wave and toss
In Ballarat in Australia where history was made
For their rights brave men died fighting at the Eureka Stockade
The Southern Cross above where they fought in the southern winds did blow
There history was created one hundred and fifty four years ago
The happening at Ballarat became known of Worldwide
Some of the miners who fought the Government troops were badly injured and some even died
For workers rights in Ballarat the price in human blood was paid
For the rights of a fair go it did not seem a fair trade
Each time I see the flag of the Southern Cross Ballarat comes to mind
The miners there who fought for workers rights were of the bravest kind
That great flag has a history for historians to recall
It surely stands for workers rights and a fair go for all.

Waiting For Our Turn
The flag of Ghana and the wisdom of my home,
With self-exaltation to bring you closer to my lover;
And like the fundamental questions of love,
But try to raise the flag so high.
We shall overcome some day in life,
For we are all victims of our own success!
And of Mount Zion to rest my mind,
Oh come back home to save your people.
I met the big white sheep with its developed horns,
And like 'Chitty-chitty Bang-bang'!
But what goes around must surely come around;
And we are still waiting for our turn in this life.
Sexis beautiful and it comes with love,
But debt is the reality of life! !
And death is not the option;
But with the 'virginity test certificates' to clear my mind,
For we are still waiting for our turn.

The Union
You that have gathered together the sons of all races,
And welded them into one,
Lifting the torch of your Freedom on hungering faces
That sailed to the setting sun;
You that have made of mankind in your own proud regions
The music of man to be,
How should the old earth sing of you, now, as your legions
Rise to set all men free?
How should the singer that knew the proud vision and loved it,
In the days when not all men knew,
Gaze through his tears, on the light, now the world has approved it;
Or dream, when the dream comes true?
How should he sing when the Spirit of Freedom in thunder
Speaks, and the wine-press is red;
And the sea-winds are loud with the chains that are broken asunder
And nations that rise from the dead?

Pledge Allegiance
I pledge allegiance to this land
Where heroes protect every woman and man
The flag that represents freedom and choice
The flag that gives us all a free voice
And on September 11th, when our nation was attacked
We all came together and we fought back
In the midst of terror, many heroes died
They fought to save others and in the end sacrificed their lives
They didn't think twice as they ran toward the fallen cries
All they could think about was to save those victims' lives
Though they have fallen we can still hear freedom ringing in their voice
From the battlefields to the white house we all had to learn to survive
The tragedies on September 11th left a whole nation to mourn and cry
Now we live on to protect our flag's integrity
From the people who just don't seem to see what our nation sees
Though they attack us, never will we fall
I give a salute to the firefighters and soldiers lost on that day
Together we mourn for the victims who had to lose their lives that way
But in their deaths, our nation finally saw
That no matter how much they try, together we cannot fall

The Flag of the Free
'Tis the streamer of England - it floats o'er the brave-
'Tis the fairest unfurled o'er the land or the wave;
But though brightest in story and matchless in fight,
'Tis the heralds of Mercy as well as of Might.
In the cause of the wronged may it ever be first-
When tyrants are humbled and fetters are burst:
Be 'Justice' the war-shout, and dastard is he
Who would scruple to die 'neath the Flag of the Free!
It may trail o'er the halyards-a bullet-torn rag,
Or flutter in shreds from the battlement-crag;
Let the shot whistle through it as fast as it may,
Till it sweep the last glorious tatter away.
What matter! we'd hoist the blue jacket on high
Or the soldier's red sash from the spearhead should fly:
Though it were but a riband, the foeman should see
The proud signal and own it-the Flag of the Free!
Have we ever looked out from a far foreign shore,
To mark the gay pennon each passing ship bore;

Raising The Flag
Behold! the Spanish flag they're raising
Before the Palace courtyard gate;
To watch its progress bold and blazing
Two hundred patient people wait.
Though bandsmen play the anthem bravely
The silken emblem seems to lag;
Two hundred people watch it gravely -
But only two salute the flag.
Fine-clad and arrogant of manner
The twain are like dark dons of old,
And to that high and haughty banner
Uplifted palms they proudly hold.
The others watch them glumly, grimly;
No sullen proletariat these,
but middle-class, well clad though dimly,
Who seem to live in decent ease.
Then sadly they look at each other,
And sigh ans shrug and turn away.
